chess an intellectual game? yes, it is.. on the other side it has something ridiculous if two adult men sit on a chair and move small wooden pieces around for several hours. it is a laugh as long as you are not caught by the virus... some nice people play chess but it is also a proxy war for the usual suspects: loners, autists, sociopaths..

I was kidding about stopping drinking for my chess rating. I stopped because I can't drink moderately and it was ruining my life.

I hear you; I would love to go back to drinking, but I never took cabs; always insisted I could drive w/no problem. Somehow rational thinking disappeared after the first 7 or 8 beers;
I'm lucky to be alive, or lucky I'm not a quadriplegic, or didn't kill someone. I even wrote totally drunk on a motorcycle.
Yes it's better to leave the driving to people who can see straight!
