Is saying gg when wining considered bad?

Nobody is talking about typing gg after the game. The point is around those who have a winning position and type gg before the game is finished.

Oh ok. But they aren't really insulting you, they just believe that the game is basically over. Sometimes you may want to go on, but even then, how is it an insult?

I think if you say gg , you need to prove how sincere you are by gifting your opponent a membership ! ✌️😎

Saying gg before the game is over seems unnecessarily passive-aggressive. "Get over it, already. You lost." It's not anything you can report anyone for, but ... people have a right to resign when they want.

However, I imagine the satisfaction of beating someone AFTER they say gg must be wonderful indeed.

As for gg in general? I try to say "you had a strong attack" or something or "you clearly outplayed me in the middlegame" or "that game's worth analyzing" if I do win, if I say anything. I guess I'm a fast typer, so it's not hard to have a few phrases like this. But I recognize some people just don't want to say anything after a tough loss.

I often say great grapejuice when wining.

You thought people wouldn't go to the pub with you because of Covid restrictions, but in fact this is why.

I think op you're overthinking things.

I find gg is kind of a lame way to say youre too lazy to give your opponent an actual compliment. People also feel better when you compliment them for defeating you as you were outsmarted by their tactics or they had a better winning strategy. Otherwise midgame if someone is giving me a hard time I'll tell them theyre a very good player or theyre a tough opponent.

I was brought up to say good game, win or lose, at the conclusion of any competition. It’s not only a sign of respect to your opponent for his willingness to go into battle, but a sign of respect for the game (or sport) itself.

I always say GG, win or lose. To me it's basically the same as a handshake at the end of a game. I find it a bit rude when ppl don't bother to reply, but that seems to be quite common.

Yes, it's only manners. But I can't tell if the opponent is still there after a game since the lag indicator bars disappear instantly.

What's happened to the error count after a game?

I say “good game” regardless. Idiots just don’t know that tone is hard to figure out online.

You worry too much about online chess mannerism. As long as you're not cheating, running your clock out in a lost position or sending death threats to your opponent you're fine.

I was just asking is it right or wrong, tbh I don't care what my opponent think, unless he says something bad to me.

Belial154

Yes, saying GG when you are winning is BM. Saying GG after a game is better.

GreenFrog_1450

It is a demonstration of low EQ and bad manner.

If I run into some with low EQ, I just add the person to my banned list.  This site has supposedly a million players, so banning a few thousand wouldn't make any difference but make your life happier.

Yeah I say gg when I win and sometimes when I lose. Tbh I don't do so much when I lose because I am too busy being angry at myself and analysing my game 😅
