is this a Good Move?

I tend to acknowledge my opponent's strikingly good moves with a "good move" comment. Is this a 'good move' on my part?

During both rated and unrated games (I don't play LiveChess). If I remember in time, I usually append the move number, so I actually say "good move #15". I usually make this comment before my next move - either #15B or #16.

I can't remember the comment so - I have either a bad memory or I haven't made any good moves.

where an opponent makes good moves depressingly often, I only flag up the not so good moves - if there are any!

Normally I only compliment my opponent for a good game. I'm always afraid that I say to much so may opponent can win the game.

While it's true that "careless talk costs lives" - a carefully-timed compliment can engender over-confidence.

so I guess, the trash talking so common at the poker table is considered "low brow" at the chess table......  unless of course we have pre established that  "trash talk" is welcome.......  unfortunately I make too many unforced errors to trash talk in chess with any credibility..... Except, I do play OTB with a poker buddy.... and lets just say the trash talk continues from poker to chess and anything else we compete in......  in fact with him..... we trash talk when we are just having dinner......  so I am not certain we could differentiate at this point.....  but it is all in good humor.....  But it does bring up the question.....  If an opponent says "oops" after I make a blunder......  Is that chess trash talk?  And.... if I am playing a high ranked guy like Zug.....  could a little trash talk put him on tilt, and perhaps give me an edge????  LOL..... hmmmm.....  maybe I should challenge him for experimental purposes?

a house move: from Canada to Québec.

Play me and you'll find out. I tend to acknowledge my opponent's strikingly good moves with a "I haven't seen such a good move in 60 years!" comment. Is this a 'good move' on my part?

artfizz is speaking only to true, whilst we were playing we did not hesitate to comment during the game, and we had a very even & interesting game!
