It happened again ... picture deleted for no reason with no comment of the staff

so ...

chess.com is censoring posts I guess we all know that.

yesterday I posted a message one of the fun topics of the message was patriotism. included into the message a picture of Edward Snowden besides the girlfriend he left behind in Hawai. the text on the picture: "this man left this woman and a 200.000$ a year job in Hawai to warn us all about what our government is doing to us. Now that is love for your country." you can still find this picture on the internet it has not been deleted.

but for some reason the picture was deleted from my post in here ... without a comment.

why am I posting this in here instead of sending a ticket? well basically I get a friendly answer from staff saying it wasn't them, isn't their fault or the picture that has been deleted included bad language. too bad for the staff that this time I saved the news item and all included picture and links to my hard drive AND it's still around on the internet.

so ... staff ... can you tell me why you've deleted that image? and why your censoring my posting without having any reason to do so?

Hi Heiner,

I have just noticed that I also have had 3 of my blogs removed by someone here who is too ignorant to have the decency to explain what they are doing or why! As a result I have withdrawn my subscription renewal as of now, and I flatly refuse to contribute anything further by way of money or posts to this site since this is the way they intend to behave. If I have anything of interest to say or post from here on, I will post to my fb or twitter, or back on Gameknot!  I wont tolerate ignorance or bad manners as you know, and I certainly don't intend to pay for it! Offended and insulted!

Just to let you know . . . you're not alone m8

Kevin, sorry to hear about that!!

not renewing the payment seems to be a good idea hence sending tickets gets you nowhere anymore.

thanks for letting me know!

Your photo link actually leads to a 1x1 image called a "beacon" that websites use to track users that download the image:  http://themetapicture.com/media/picture.jpe

Could you have told me that first?

Thanks Heiner, you may find like me that you are unable to delete debit card details, expiry date etc from the account subscriptiion page. I have sent support a message asking them to reinstate my blogs or explain in detail who removed and why and to remove my subscription details if they are unable to comply. As it happens, the card number that they have has expired, so it's not so important ~ I have no intention of renewing/updating it, not with this ignorant and arrogant ill-mannered behaviour

btickler,

the image was perfectly fited into the news item it worked for over 24 hours and then there's not even a placeholder telling you that the links not working ...

so what are you basically telling me?

and Kevin, I'm sorry to hear that it's one of the reasons for me only using paypal accounts to pay bills like that ...

sadly cc is really getting worse and one gets the feeling that staff is not even interested as you wrote ...

where are the golden times when you could just post a music video in the Music Saves My Soul group and chat the evening away ...

I'm telling you that you do not understand how browsers and websites work ;).

Your image link leads to nothing at this point, so it was probably pulled by the site you linked from, not chess.com at all...if you can still see that image however, you need to clear your cache to see what others are actually seeing.

It's not visible on your blog entry for the simple reason that the redirected link points to a 1x1 single pixel image...which is being displayed on your blog entry, but is effectively invisible because it is only 1 pixel.  That is why it is called a "beacon".  The site you linked to now knows every time someone loads your blog page, because the 1x1 image is being downloaded from the remote server.

btickler, was the the link to a beacon or a pic of a beacon (the link u posted).

It is because they hate you

Opps! The Secret is out!

The 1x1 pixel image is the beacon ;).  That is the web developer lingo for the practice of embedding tiny images too small to see on a webpage so that pageloads can be tracked remotely.

I know what a beacon is. Now Im not going to visit that site again.

913Glorax12

No you don't

But did the OP post the pic or a snap of the pic?

turamon

originally the link I gave you lead to a picture that was put into the news item. when it was taken out of the news item it was still available under the link I gave you.

btickler ... it was working when I posted this and the main point is the question why cc deleted it in the first place.

You could always ascertain this for yourself by clicking the blog link given, joining the group "The Farm", and then using the "View Source" option on your browser to find the actual link.  Not really worth it for me, I stopped at the "Oops, you are not a member of this group" page...

You're still not understanding.  You are talking about a direct link and an indirect link.  The indirect link on your chess.com blog page is not cached the same way.  It routes through chess.com.  There's a number of reasons why the direct link's image might still be cached on your computer, but the indirect blog link's image is not.  The website you linked to probably took down that image, and the redirect to a 1x1 pizel "beacon" image is probably just a (dubious and arguably unethical) default they have set up when someone tries to reach an image file that is gone.  They don't want to lose the tracking to the link, so instead of "breaking" the link, they replace the removed image with the beacon image's link so tracking is maintained.

As I said, clear your browser cache, or run an "internet files cleanup", or however you normally clear out all your browser files and history, and then see if the direct link still works for you.

P.S. You should also be aware that the blog entry from your group "The Farm" can't be reached by anyone who isn't in the group, and joining requires approval, so nobody outside the group can verify what your blog looks like using the link you asked people to look at.
