you are quite right. we are here to read the forum content like one big happy family. that’s what words are for. not many threads warn the reader that it’s a pile of plonk that isn’t worth reading. when starting a thread, one should always think of your audience that deserves quality content, not who to consider a troll etc, in fact that is trolling and the site shouldnt allow it, says a lot about the refereeing, doesn’t it ?

I agree with this--people come to discuss chess, not trolls and get wrapped up in drama

I agree with you. At first, the trolls were funny, such as the en passant one. But now it is just annoying

It seems people have forgotten what the forums really mean and the rules about posting. The forums are a sad toxic place. I got a bit toxic myself and had to be reminded about it, but others seem to forget.
Some clubs are trying, and from my perspective, failing, to resolve conflicts. They seem only to inflame ongoing conflicts or start new ones.
These forums are now known for their toxicity and general craziness. (No I haven't forgotten the moderators and staff, they do a pretty good job locking posts violating the ToS)
As usual something drama-related springs up. But this recent one hasn't gone away like the others seem to have. Instead, it's still here and driving new people away from the forums. It's become a popularity contest: who can get the most points, who is most recognized etc etc.
And then you have the "free diamond" and "make this the biggest forum post in chess.com" and all that other garbage. Thankfully it almost always gets locked or moved to off topic so nobody sees it on the "most recent" list.
Thing is, we can't fix the toxicity. It's simple: toxic people almost aways stay that way, and attract more toxicity. Mods try but it's like putting out a fire on the sun: impossible.

The forums are toxic and I don't like it. We can't do much and I'm pessimistic.
Now, we had you on the list for a reason. The list was to warn members of our club not to engage with these members because it often goes up in flames. The goal wasn't hated, it was to avoid any more issues. It is not a blacklist, and the OP violated the ToS by posting private information. However, it seems like you have realized how bad the forums are. You want things to change. So do we. So top fighting against us, because we have the same goal.
The club hasn't been a failure, though. By inadvertently acting as a feeding ground for trolls, it has shown people that trolls will stop at nothing to preserve their status. Phase one was awareness. Phase two is doing something about it. There are things we can do. For one, we should treat everyone as equals, which will decrease some of the want for status when the majority treats the patzer, the forum junkie, and the titled member the same. Praise people for what they have done well. Figure out how to defuse a conversation correctly. Striving for and making or a better forum is what we want to accomplish.

At this point I get bored with these forums and they’re useless other than wasting time (but then again, we’re in quarantine soooooooo)
Yeah quarantine is probably one of the factors to this. Really sucks

I was a bit confused at first, because people would interchangeably refer the Forum Elite Club and the Community Clean Up as the same club in the list topic.

Technically, even when I came here in 2016, the forums still had trolling and 'gift me free diamond' 'get this to 1000 posts'
Unfortunately, kinda like Lc0, I went through (kinda the same?) situation on the forums, and well, basically got hated.
