No talking about religion, or God may get angry.

Last year Pope Francis came to visit the United States and addressed a joint session of Congress with an interesting message.

And he just made our Archbishop a Cardinal.

No talk of Pastafarianism, it upsets the religious people.  As for engine abuse, just don't take the revs into the red......too often :-)  Bigotry is fine, but no political responses.

Many Americans seem to dislike Pres. Trump. How about the 1st daughter Ivanka Trump? Sorry, cant paste pic in tab phone.

Avatar of Supdok

they probably like her better and they probably won't mind her talking about grabbing the guys anywhere below the midsection.

no way, i'm sure they'd prefer to work for money rather than bread and water.

Why are you advising Molo1 in particular on that? I don't see why his comment needs to stand out more than the other comments in this thread.

"competitor sites" is the worst offense. Chess.com, despite their recent improvements which were actually very good, is still totally in love with censorship.

"engine abuse" I don't see how this could be a problem to write about.

"politics, religion" This is not allowed but I don't understand why. These are important subjects. We just had an election which changed everything and religious violence is getting worse. But we can't write about this stuff.

Big brother is always watching. This place makes me understand what it would be like to live in North Korea.

You've made this comparison before, and it remains as inaccurate as ever - I am fairly sure that any North Koreans speaking about their leadership in the same way that you talk about Chess.com would suffer considerably more significant consequences.

There's a response from @erik to @Richie_and_oprah in https://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/patronizng-letter-from-the-owner, where he makes the key point re: discussions about cheating:

The issue is that it normally gets heated, accusatory, and personal. So we keep it off the main forums.

The same applies to politics and religion.

While it's possible to discuss these things without it becoming "heated, accusatory, and personal", that takes a LOT of effort from the moderators on an ongoing basis, and clearly Erik just doesn't feel that the benefits outweigh the cost.

There is no president Trump, at least not yet. The electors have not yet voted.

Well... here you can get muted or deleted. That's also the case in North Korea. So... not much difference?
