Lots of websites are shutting down comment sections, chess.com should too.

Worse than a "stodgy, stagnated carcass" ...

It would be a putrid heap of parrot droppings!

I've had to block some of the children from this thread.  Get off my lawn!

According to some recent Gallup Polls, a majority of people under 21 say they are as bad as elders think they are. And as for suggesting you should stay away from forums with 'ugly' people, is also silly. In most TV cannels these days, the content is often ruined by constant hammering of 'Buy this, buy that' shit. To say: Don't look at it; just change channel, is sooo American. Some healthy dose of Anti_Americanism are badly needed.

As for chess.com: This is a very American sort of chess site. All the bad, and good, things in American 'culture' and its people are reflected here.

As a chess site, it's wonderful. But the forums...very little of interest there. Close them down; very few will miss them.

I'd miss the Americans anyway, but what about all that wit the British are spreading here on a daily basis? Priceless.

Hurray for censorship!

Looked like a reminder to keep the next dentist appointment, on first glance.

I thought it meant: "Keep up the good work!" But I may be wrong...

Up, down, center, in. It makes reference to a drink, that's why I say I skip the first three steps.

Of all the features on chess.com, the forums are the most interactive and lively. Eliminating forums would devolve chess.com into the stodgy, stagnated carcass that many less auspicious sites have become.

That's pretty silly.  You can't get much more interactive than a chess game.

According to you then, the 490,000 who don't participate in forum discussions are stodgy, stagnant, corpse-like cretins who the minority of you keep from sinking into the quagmire this place would otherwise become without the daily doses of brilliant chatter Batgirl and others provide?

Most forum topics are nonsense...people asking nonsense questions...they deserve nonsense responses

For my part this is right. All I have ever posted is of zero value and makes no sense. I'm not ironizing here. ( I don't believe that this is true for all posters though, there are a few who post real content. )

Why I do it? This is an interesting question. May be this is some kind of mental disease.

i don't think you understand. try the word creative instead

Agreed. Mostly creative nonsense.

Don'y shut them down...they are entertaining !

Moon, I find your logic is a bit strange. Those adjectives by batgirl don't refer to people who are not interested on forum discussions, but to sites where aren't available. I think the difference isn't too subtle.
