I generally assume that people are in fact MORE mature in person than their online persona. or perhaps that's because I've been spending more time in live chess than on the forums lately.
I'm not averse to meeting someone whom I've met online, it just hasn't happened yet.
We build up an image of people on a site like this but its all just a smoke screen as to who they actually are ...
I built up an image of someone not long after I got to the site, being a little naive about things, but I got wise to the game rather quickly.
The fellow chess player I met represented themselves very well as did I. It was as if we'd known each other for years.
Meeting people from the internet is NOT something that I would recommend in most cases, but I decided to take a chance on this one person. I'm glad that I did.

My husband and I met another couple for dinner, someone I played chess with. It was awkward at first, but we really had a good time. I do think you have to be careful, especially if single...but I do know there have been many good friendships made from the internet. We're going to be meeting someone else soon, and I really look forward to it, and to hopefully more in the future.

I do not do any forms of drugs, however my "drug" (gluttony) has ever been my weakness with the females, their beautiful kryptonite that weakens the daylights out of me.
I only am referring to the fact we all are connected spiritually whether or not we know this, and that we one day all shall, that is when all be fulfilled and ignorance, all lies and chaos, and calamities, and anything remotely of reference to in-harmony be obsolete in consciousness.

I agree that public meeting places are safest. There are a couple of other members here that I'd love to sit down and have lunch with one of these days. I correspond with some truly amazing people here and I'd love to meet them.

Well, Chess-date-com, has been a Disney-World of excitement for many! I met one of my first moderator-warnings here. I've gone for long walks with my losses. I've even had a few drinks with people here. But, once my electricity goes out, it seems like I don't see anyone from Chess-date-com...
