My 9 year old kid is being cheated

My son is being threatened and cheated by few people. He is made to pay diamond membership as gift to few people. We want to revert this. Chess.com can you please help?

It's up to the receiver of the gift to change their membership level. The gift just adds to the account balance and will not change a membership level; many memberships, outside of gifts, are subscriptions, so the member will be charged at the current membership level when it expires.

If you want to be at a different level, you should be able to go in and downgrade or upgrade to the level you want and the system will use any credit you have to offset the new term cost.

Does it help?

Other than this, mailing support via support@chess.com can also help. Elucidate your situation and tell them what you want the team to do. In that way, they can deal appropriately with your request, and if possible, they will revert your money back. If you want the refund immediately, fill out the form here: https://support.chess.com/article/1963-request-a-refund.

P.S: If contacting support, during the process, the staff may refer you to the billing team of chess.com.

This is correct. Contact support and they can get it taken care of. You can also use https://support.chess.com/article/346-contact-us

It seems his parents are using his account to say this…

Yeah I know. I just said that because I thought maybe his child will get frustrated when he sees this…

What threats were being made? Although threats are prohibited, most of them are hollow, and should not be taken seriously when your son has given no info to the threatener, like where they live, or billing address (hopefully noT dear lord). In addition, Idk about him being threatened, but he did give one to a member willingly, but I don't think that's what you talking about...
And, who was making these threats? Make sure to report them as well as contacting customer service for a refund.

And for children under the age of 13, parents are supposed to monitor their usage.

That's bad

@lazydog I think he means his son is gifting people membership rather than people are telling him to upgrade to diamond himself.

You can't be forced to pay a diamond membership. It's disgusting that people made him believe this. This site is full of toddlers dear lord.

Exactly, lmao. And a kid can't just pay for a diamond membership unless it's with their parents' money. The only reasonable explanation I see is that somehow their credit card number or something was stolen

Then we're talking more serious than threats, that's starting to get legal...

Hopefully their credit card info was not hacked, but you never know with hackers these days...

I seem to be the only one who do not understand what the OP is saying.

For example, kid takes parent's credit card, and makes purchases online. Parent is upset and contacts company to get refund.

"Made to pay diamond membership" he's saying the kid was bullied into doing it.

It's also probably a good idea to remove credit card details from the account (if possible).

It would probably be more suitable for kids to use ChessKids.com

Sorry, that was me. I told him I would give him a GM title by his username for a Diamond membership. Thank him for the membership tho (or thank you I suppose)
