Need help streaming please

OK so I downloaded Twitch Studio and loaded that up and the usability was great... but the lag was like 600-800 ping so then I noticed that it was a beta version.

So I uninstalled that and downloaded streamlabs but there was no way for me to share my screen and still chat with people in the chat room.

What I need is a way to get started and if there is a better streaming program that is really user-friendly cuz I am so wet behind the ears that I need to be able to understand it.

I do have discord if someone wants to walk me through it step by step in an easy to understand way...

Use Streamlabs OBS premium, For me It is 10.00 A Month. Or, simply go for the free version!

Screen recording is a different subject, PM me And i can show U how

StreamLabs was a nightmare ... @KobraBites has worked with me to get OBS instead and that seems to be working better. Now we are gonna be working on it tomorrow so that I can have the chat box externally of the program and then I can start streaming properly happy.png

I really struggled getting streamlabs set up properly so opted for OBS instead

Discord is a live chatting site.  You can chat live with friends and anyone.  You can also post links and have specialized rooms.  Discord is not for streaming, blackfirestorm

I've played around a bit with OBS Studio and it works pretty well. It's pretty easy to figure out. I think you should be good if you use that software.

I did streaming myself on youtube. I just have a low-middle end laptop. I never used the chat feature that pops up comments though. I just use OBS Project https://obsproject.com/

The other streaming softwares are WAY too heavy for my weak system.

I know how it works. I have done streaming via Discord before and it is basically sharing my screen. That is not what I want to do.

Can you help me then please? What I want to do is have the chat available while I am not on the program. So I would be streaming via the program and playing chess but i wouldn't be able to see the chat at all cuz its a pop out and as soon as I hit the webpage the chat pop out vanishes behind the browser.

Yes I have considered streaming on YT as well but I think it would be better if I did it via Twitch as that account has a lot more followers

Yes I have followed it to the letter and it only works if you have the program open and there on the desktop which then I cannot access the webpage. I want the program running in the background with the webpage open as obviously I will be playing chess so will need to access the webpage but as soon as I click on the webpage the chat disappears behind the page.

Well I'm not really sure then.. maybe you should pm some not really popular streamers here cuz the popular ones won't reply back.

I know literally nothing about streaming (chess or non-chess) other than the theoretical aspect of how it works. Perhaps this may be of use for you though:

chess.com staff might also point you into the direction of some streaming resources and advice because chess.com wants successful streamers too, so they are more than willing to help you out happy.png

Yes that is why I was working with staff last night happy.png

Okay, well at least you are on the right track then grin.png

Chess streaming seems fairly far into the future if I ever decide to do it, but it seems like a lot of work and money on equipment. Seems like it could be fun for the chess community though grin.png
