A warning about losing our messages would have been nice.  I had advice from 2000+ rated players in my messages that I would have taken notes from if I knew they were disappearing...

sorry - it was an emergency :(

Don't worry erik, I cleared all my messages. We're good now.

Well done erik and staff of chess.com thank you. I like the way the pieces slide across the board which make it easier for me to see.

I like the way how you have the game explorer set up while I am playing, good one , would it be possible to have that in the vote chess as well ?
Heard that you are looking at articles how you are gonna fix that up,good. remember 'less means more' again thank you.  KC.

An emergency? was the site going to crash down? Pure speculation and a hog wash answer if this makes sense in the english language.

If such an emergency does exist, then tell us about it. What emergency that does not require time to tell it's customer's, the paying members, what is the  emergency all about?

The decision was planned and no communication was given about the intent, a very , very illegal move in chess!! Let us know the time and we will all adjust our watches and clocks.

It's snow time to adjust our clocks as winter is coming up!!

i'm sorry to say this but you are very rude, which is especially odd when you have zero understanding of the situation you are discussing. i will not respond to any of your comments in the future.

Did you fix live chess analysis boards?

I like your comment Erik in response to paul211. It reminds me of the show full house when the little girl would always say "How Rude"

Well its not that childish, paul211 has thrown accusations at almost every managerial decision erik has made. Ever one of these posts where erik shows transparency (which I and much of the community commend him for), Paul211 uses to insult and disparage erik. I'm surprised erik has put up with him as long as he has...I would have cracked much earlier...but then again Im no PR genius like erik.

Erik, could you please tell more about columnists at Chess.com? What are their duties and what are the requirements for becoming an official columnist? Are they supposed to cover a particular topic (e.g. Tactics), or is it more of a personal blog, but called differently?

Narz

Erik, an idea - create a checkbox that users can select to auto-delete all messages over a day old.  I would choose this option to help you with bandwidth issues, any messages worthwhile to me I could C&P to an e-mail or save on my computer.

The bandwidth freed up could go towards an improved Game Explorer. Cool

Since this update, I no longer see the "It's your turn" icon up by my account name at the top right of the home page.  To see if it's my turn in any of my online chess games, I have to go to Play > Online chess, see if I have any alerts, and then click that.  Not a huge deal, but it's an extra click every time I come to the site, and since I have a pretty slow internet connection it probably adds 20-30 seconds to my waiting time each time I check the site.  I'm using chrome 2.

I want to express the same sentiment as Dan_V.  I actually never use chess.com messages, so I was not affected by this change, but I am alarmed that features I was promised when I paid for my account have changed without notice.  At one point you were also considering limiting tactics trainer problems for gold members without notice (and I'm happy that you reconsidered).  I think chess.com is a really wonderful site, but I don't always feel like you are respecting your commitment to paying members 100%.  Removing features that people have paid for is unprofessional.

This has been a negative post overall, but my overall experience at chess.com is very positive.  I've seen great improvements in my game, and had a ton of fun as well!  Thanks for your constant drive to improve, and your clear communication of (most :p) upcoming changes.

Dan_V

Suggestion:  There are tons of members that have signed up and never returned after day 1.  I know because I was searching through members for my new group.  I mean lots of people members since xx/xx/07 and last time online is xx/xx/07.  I think cleaning up nonactive members would be good for everyone - chess.com and clearing up names for real members.

I would still like my messages back...  :-(     one days notice, and I could have gone through them all and made notes...  (heck one hours notice if I was awake)

okay i'm having some trouble with the alerts i had 3 alerts 2 with a move in a game and 1 of a post on 1 of the group notes, i clicked the notes and went to home and replied, i clicked on online games and normally it would show the other 2 alers seeming i didn't click them yet, but they were gone, this keeps happening and my alerts keep dissapearing like this...
