New Members Exist???

Has anyone noticed a lot new members challanging online games, making one move, then abandoning the game?  I've had this happen six times in a row!  Is a new member not counted unless it makes one move in a game?  Are these fake new members?

Springerrr

I've gotten so I simply don't accept challanges from 1200 players.

TheBigDecline

It happens A LOT! Maybe they simply lose interest in Chess as fast as they garnered it.

Springerrr

Why only and always just one move?  Does seem like everyone would tire of chess.com after one move.  I think there is some sort of false registration going on.

TheBigDecline

Or they don't make a move at all ... actually I experience that the most. I don't believe there's a conspiracy around it, because nothing could be easier for Chess.com to fake the registration numbers. I mean ... they run the site.

No, no...not chess.com.  It's Obama; he's got something to do with it!!!

Most likely, it is people that don't realize that these are days/move games.  They log on expecting something like Live Chess, then find out that they may have to wait up to 14 days (or more, with vacation) to get their opponent's response.  If we're lucky, they realize that we have what they're looking for in the Live Chess area and stick around; if not, they close the browser window and forget all about us.

Tapani

Or just people joining with their facebook accounts, clicking "play online chess" -- expecting "live chess".

Obama. Definitely Obama.

Yes, Obama!! It probably ties in to the death camps he's building. He must be registering one fake account for every old person he's going to execute in the death camps.

It's happened a lot to me. I volunteered to be welcomer, and I'd say that about 9 times out of 10 it's a move or two and then they abandon the game.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I'm a new member. I'm hoping to learn some things from you all. I can assure you that I'm one of the new ones that will not just quit. I look forward to possibly playing with some of you at some point.

When you say new members is that human or alien?

That would explain the ugly avatars and those are just way to sexy to be true. Would explain why so many of the players in public forum do not join teams as they want to study our reactions.

Well all this alien talk in some of the other threads has me really wondering now.

Welcome to the site and enjoy.  I would suggest you utilize the tactics trainer and daily puzzle as well as play correspondence games and live games.  Good luck in your future games!  Smile

Hey, I am a real life member of this site and even though I may not be among the highest rated players on the site, I am willing to share what I know with you. I am always down for a challenge.
