I only have one real issue with the new format. I miss being able to see at a glance which of my friends are currently online. The "Friends" box seems to provide that, but falls short. May I suggest an option "Friends currently online."

A handful of vociferous chumps complaining about changes to a website that many of them use for free vs around 8000 currently logged in to Live Chess and apparently having a good time.
I'd say the majority are very happy.

@NineofWands - this is the best chess site around when it comes to having a great chess playing platform with so many features combined with a great community/social networking system. You might regret leaving if you close your account.
Whilst I might not like the actual 'look' of the new site, am not a fan of so much coloured text and mostly pastel colours (which is why people are referring to it being a bit childish looking, similar to nursery colours) and barely any 'solid' black (black being a more professional colour), and I think the pt sizes could be beefed up a tad, but I wouldn't leave the site for that reason. It's cosmetic, and it's also subjective. There are others who don't mind the look. It's a matter of taste/opinion.
What's more important is the functionality of the site, and whilst there are bugs still around, we have to appreciate and acknowlege that Erik and his staff are doing a very impressive job trying to fix as many as they can as quickly as they can. I would have preferred it all to have been done whilst still in testing mode, but Erik obviously had his reasons for wanting to upload the new site permanently when he did.
It's only just been launched and already many bugs/issues have been fixed and I'm positive the rest will be sorted out in good time. There are hundreds of comments being posted daily and Erik has shown he has been reading them all, writing tickets for them and responding where he feels fit. We just need to show a little patience and keep reporting issues so they know what needs fixing. It's not going to kill us to not have the site 'perfect' for a few days or a week or even a couple of weeks.

I agree Johan, I can't see a shortcut link anymore for MY GROUPS. You have to now go to 'GROUPS' and then scroll down and then you will see a link for MY GROUPS. But the direct link before was much better and quicker for us to get to our groups when we need to. Guess will have to bookmark pages here more that were easier to locate before.
I dont unserstand you all...the home drop-down menu has a groups and teams link, and my homepage has a groups and teams link...
When I click on the "Analysis Board" feature of tactics trainer, it brings up what appears to be the "analysis and Source" page,
Clicking on the analysis and source page only brings up source.
Missing the analysis board.

I said why. I was thrown by the terminology. Before My groups were actually called "My Groups". Now none of those links have the word "My" in them.. was just looking for the same link as before.
on the overhead bar on the game page there should be "your current games" so that you can click on it and bring up your current game list. you would see how much time was left, who was online and which game you might
choose to play before playing another. the current format for this is not as good as the old page.

I just got my best ever win tonight for my club beating a very high rated player, eager as hell to publish the game, just like my other 13 games, I can't!! The following is the error message that is given because I cannot insert a game, diagram or anything :(

Can some light be shed on this problem? Has anyone else been able to post up their games??
What were the steps you took to reprouce the error? Are you trying to add a diagram to a forum post? or trying to share via facebook?
I like the new web design a lot, except when making a theme for me or my groups... the logo is squashed.
A couple of minor things. My "all games in progress" shows 1 less than actual. It has been like this since well before the redesign.
I'm also shown to have 42 trophies! That's a lot! So I clicked on "view all" and I only have 26. These "trophies" are really no big deal. I actually like sending them more than receiving.
Neither issue affects functions. However, it is a bug. It sounds like others have more important issues (frozen screens, iphone, etc.), so, these are small and can be put at the end of your list.
The things I dislike about the new web design are minor but very irritating. For example:-
I can't tell which page I'm on in any thread anymore - on my laptop the blacked numerals look the same as the blue !
Can't see the post numbers easily - white on grey is not a good choice.
You have to click twice now in the posting/comment box instead of once before you can start your comment.
Also, pages seem to be loading quite a bit more slowly than they used to.
It's a shame that a member's country of origin has disappeared from the comments header - that used to be of interest to me. Having to click on the flag is just tedious.

Any idea when/if the Privacy issue would be resolved? My 'friends' list, tactics / mentor ratings should be allowed to be hidden. I really (and many others also) HATE the idea that just anyone, by going to my home page would have access to my 'friends' list, etc. Not everything should be available to everyone.

you have 42,you are counting individaul trophies,but if you look by some trophies it has a number by it, if you click on these trophies you see who gave them to to you and what match
The very creation disproves your claim. OK, at least that input has any impact. Its possible you look for entertainment purposes. How about an easy access cancel membership button?

Has anybody looked at fixing the way the site displays on apple products? The pinch function (to resize items on the screen) doesn't work on my iPhone, so diagrams, games, etc. don't fit on my screen. I usually browse the blogs and articles from my phone or iPad. Not much fun at present.
One of the things mentioned in erik's news post was the following item that is listed as one of the reasons for the site changes:
foundations for making the site more mobile-enabled
So better mobile support is for sure on the radar. Don't know how far out those updates are but they are looking at updates for sure.
I agree in principle, but I am sure 'Erik' is big enough to accept any 'defectors' back!!
