Why do people not like play vs live chess idk. Better look I guess?

for me it's because I've been using the old live chess for like 8 years now, gonna take a bit for me to get used to a new UI

Quote from Erik : I'm sorry that we were abrupt about it. Frankly, we didn't get a lot of pushback until we pushed this change to 100%. But we realize that we messed up on this,

Yea Erik that seems to be the root of several problems that chess dot come has made. You think you are getting good feedback on proposed changes when in fact you are getting unreliable feedback. I suggest that you address that issue before you make any more big changes.....

The DGT feedback is definitely noted down! To my knowledge this feedback will soon go to the dev team. Play (and other features that already are separated, like Classroom) is supposed to be all that live is, but better and with a fresh look.

Thank you Erik for the explanation.  I love playing live chess.

Mistakes do happen in life.  When a person in a position of power (in this case, Erik) is willing to stand up and admit that they own part of the responsibility for a given mistake, that's commendable.  It's also rare in this industry, which makes it all the more precious to have that attitude here on chess.com.  Thank you, Erik and team!

good morning

happy Easter to all, just a couple of things, I found when I play players on a rare occasion and even rarer now that have a high score when they lose I don't get any points for the game, why is that?

What can be done about the 35% of players that no excuse me, that's an insult to the people actually play the game. the people that   using their clock manipulation programs, time and time again, I play people that can't win without cheating the clock. And time and time again they show right back up, I do understand you can block them, but I block them from me, then they go on cheating someone else, and there's been a lot of occasions even when they cheat the clock they still lose, which is quite funny, but I think the penalty should be higher than what it is now, if you get caught cheating, not only should you be banned from this site for life, you should have all your points go to the person that you cheated against, a virtual death penalty I guess you'd call it.

Thank you for your time I doubt anyone will read this, I look forward to your comments if any.

wdym cheating on clock? The clock is a part of the game, a good player must be able to do good in the opening, the middlegame, the endgame and the clock.

I looked at you last 100 games and you've gained rating on all wins.  Also, your opponent can't impact the clocks. However, the clocks do hey updated after each move is received to account for lag, lag compensation, or potential disconnects

good day today

as to the clock yes they can and yes they have, they either have stopped the clock. altogether or added time to their time, have seen it time and time again, and reported it and when they  catch it they gave me my points back. so your statement that the clock can't be manipulated is false, as for the last hundred games are played, Ive played way more games of that, and I'm not got points for all them, however if you want to go on the illusion that people can't manipulate the clock go ahead. the next time I reported them and i get my points back again, it'll prove my point once again. It's actually pretty simple to do, but thank you again.

The server keeps the official clocks. In order to manipulate the clock, someone would need full access to the server and that isn't at all likely.

Any clock issues you're seeing are what I mentioned.

Nawari_Bogor

Yes, I've had 2-3 loses related to timer/clock issues. In this case, I was waiting for the opponent's turn to move, but as soon as he moved in he was immediately declared the winner, even though the time was still about 4-6 minutes and there were still many chess pieces, and not in check position. In this case there was no return of Elo points.

ya hackers, definitely

but its not like they aren't gonna get banned and i mean everyone deserves a second chance

some people start cheating in one game and then because it's easier they continue doing it cause of greed of points or wanting to win all the games, but they learn their lesson most of the times

altho chess.com making the security for the site a little stronger won't do any harm to anyone

because chess.com has gotten hacked multiple of times and people who are innocent have been affected too

gemini1974

Hi Erik! What's happening with this player called Jonbchess1? He is on vacation mode for so many months!... Is it allowed! Is it "legal"?... I have sent so many emails to chesscom support group and I have not received any answer yet! Is there a support group over there?
