Opponent “Misclicks”, Blunders Queen, Then Asks for Draw

Sort:

My opponent left his queen hanging, I took it, he then sent me a message claiming it was a misclick. He then sent me a draw request, like he was entitled to it. I of course declined then took his undefended knight. He resigned.
Was it arrogant of him to expect me to grant him a draw? Or was I a jerk for not believing him? Are we entitled to relief from our misclicks?

Hmm. So many queens are left hanging in blitz.

He should have just resigned.

There are no take-backs.

On the other hand, when you do notice moves that seem like obvious mis-clicks, such as moving the king one square instead of castling, it is gracious to offer a draw.

I wouldn’t say you have any moral obligation to accept a draw after a misclick, but you can if you want to.

I kinda doubt he misclicked. You were in the right there.

When I was down at my 500-600 days I moved a knight in an obvious misclick. It was a blunder and it was still the opening. Luckily my opponent was gracious and accepted a draw, it was VERY obvious I made a misclick and it was rapid

this is a natural think in online speed chess so we shouldn't give a draw
but i prefer if the position is dead equal and he slipped we should have sportsmanship and give a draw

Imagine the game above actually happened

Loss is a loss. Just have to take it gracefully. You know what some people abandon. Pathetic isn't it

thebroski555

Was there a reasonable move right next to the supposed "misclick"?

How is he being arrogant he probably just wanted a draw because he missclicked unless he spammed I don't see an issue :/ its more arrogant to complain about it and act intitled to a resignation so the answer is it depends but most of the time no

It's a misclick? Womp womp, nobody cares. I misclick all the time, and do I win? Sometimes if they suck, but remember, you always have the right to decline a draw, and no take backs.

Honestly if I misclicked and my opponent offers a draw, I would not decline it I would accept it.

This is based on a game I found on someone else's post. (Qa8+ is a great move)

Eh? No-one wants a resignation. Just play the game and win after your opponent's blunder or mistake. It's silly to want a draw.

Thats true I never offer a draw however if my opponent offers one I will accept it if I'm losing

AGC-Gambit_YT

lol no dip you would say yes if you're losing
