I mean, I don't see how else I can convince you it is a sport

Unless you give me some valid reason it isn't a sport I have to try to disprove

@IfPatriotGames has conducted tons of research in another topic called "A Sport Must Be a Sport!". S/he says it is not a sport, and has a great deal of evidence saying why. The problem with using the fact that the IOC says chess is a sport (like I did) is that the IOC could have said that for bureaucratic reasons.

For me chess is a game🙏🏻

i repeat, a sport must involve physical activity

I already said that chess involves physical activity (and even though that isn't the main focus of the game, it still doesn't violate the definition), chess requires skill, and chess can be played competitively for entertainment

I played a game today sitting back on a sun-lounger with a beer by my side. How is that NOT a sport ??

is that the IOC "could have said that for bureaucratic reasons."

That is called rank speculation.  It is an Olympic Sport. Period.

that is true, but i feel like physical activity is the main characteristic of a sport

Maybe it is because most sports have physical activity as the main focus, but chess also has physical activity

It doesn't violate the definition; it's a sport

"The International Olympic Committee recognized chess as a sport in 1999 and a year later it was an exhibition event at the Sydney Olympics."

Sorry Charlie, read the facts.  If you can get the IOC to issue a retraction then maybe yall will get somewhere.  Why don't yall forward all these insipid forum posts and convince them.  Thoughts and prayers.

I played chess today while breathing extremely fast

Obviously it's a sport.

I actually played it after riding a bike, but still!

True. It is just speculation. But that is what everyone on the other topic is saying.
