Have you ever seen a match between a 672 and an 720? ... is like watching a wild gorilla trying to eat with fork and knife... Players rated under 900 or 800 are out of control... playing their noobish short term moves producing you pain in the eyes. My eyes are bleeeding. Somebody should take control of this situation... They are destroying chess and we cant allow this

I'm about 700; but I'm a gorilla, so I should be allowed to play...other gorillas.

+1.. There are a lot of Gorrilas around.. We can have decent Monkey Business :D

This is a really stupid this guys. I mean when you first started what were you automatically 1800 or something? Come on you have to start somewhere.

I agree totally. And somebody could just be having a bad day...or they got careless and forgot where they were, especially at 3 day chess (I've even done that myself).

Hear, hear! Are you going to ban children?

We can't ban them. Whenever i'm feeling down I watch the 700s play and laugh so much that I forget about all my worries. Infact, the under 900s should have a special section on chess.com where all of their games are posted for us to watch. It'll improve the atmosphere around here since everyone will be happy after laughing so much.

Even reading some of these forums has the same effect on me...like the forum about "the most worthless/worst chess pieces"  (or something like that).

With enough whiskey downed I'll bet even GMs play at 700 level

That is a fantastic idea! I hated the banning under 900 rated people idea anyway. And my SCF rating is 1030, not 899.

Chess is a nice game from beginners to experts, everyone can enjoy the game and learnaning process

Btw you are 1000 in blitz and 800 in bullet those rating tells more than online chess rating, where level is extremely poor U2100

Are you going to avoid playing anymore blitz games forever?

Banning people with a rating under 900 is CRAZY!!!!! Sorry, I don't mean to insult you, but it is a CRAZY idea. To think that banning people who are still learning to play chess from playing chess.... would ruin chess. Which is exactly what you are trying not to do. I myself do not think I have a rating above 900 in blitz or bullet. Mine are somewhere in the 500s for Bullet and 7 or 800s for Blitz.Smile

MathiasKux

Scottrf, how do you propose to ban them from playing? Follow every one who plays under 900 and burn their chess boards?

ahahahhahah listen to what you're saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's so painfull for you to watch them playing go and teach them how to play. It's very easy to say "they suck" and don't move a finger to change it.

Scottrf

Why are you asking me?

I´m guessing OP is a troll, but I´ll bite at it anyways. I don´t play chess competetively and is quite new to the site, so I´m not certain how the ranking system works, but  here´s my take: Considering how the rankings of players in a single pool is relative only to players within that pool, and you are going to have a certain difference of skill within said pool of players, a chess site with say 2000 grandmasters that all started out at 1200 would eventually have some players rated at 900.

Ie, if people on chess.com would start to be banned when they went under 900, the ratings would adjust accordingly, and a new set of players with a objectively higher skill level would drop under 900 and be banned again. Rinse, repeat, and eventually most people would be banned. A dystopia to consider before proceeding with the plan.

I am no master by any means. But I am more than willing to share with those who are less experienced everything that I know about this game. I do not laugh at those who are confused about e.p. captures or castling rules or anything else for that matter. I instead offer to teach them what they do not know. I do not consider those who blunder regularly to be stupid. Instead, I offer to teach them what I know about tactics.

I am not a rated player. But I do play people better than I am. In fact, they have a much higher rating than you. Outside of chess.com, I play against those who are USCF 1950+. I learn from them. And because I learn from them, I continue to improve in this game. As I improve, I help others improve while building their interest in chess.

I personally have an appreciation for people who take the challenge to play this game whether they are >2000 or <1000, unless something like arrogance is a chief characteristic of the player.

I would encourage you to have respect for those who are learning to walk before they run.

I'd love to see an added feature to chess.com - as well as the "Top Rated" game between the two highest rated players, can we also please show the "Least Rated" game between the two lowest rated players. Everyone can do with some light relief from time to time!

Great! An idea that will finally take the load of schoolwork off my back!

And I would love to see you in that game, no not the highest rated one, but the lowest rated game! Perhaps if you wore those shoes, you would not be getting your kicks off the inadequacies of others, who no doubt are trying their best to imitate brilliant chess players such as yourself.

Yes, but given my current rating, then I have a lot of sandbagging to do.

I'm just trying to determine the criteria for who should be restricted from posting.

+1 for the 'Bottom Game' to show up on Live Chess along with the 'Top Game'. Chess.com, implement this!
