can you PLEASE put a timer on all games when a person is choosing not to play and is just sitting there hoping we get impatient and resign! It's very frustrating when these sore losers give up in the middle of the game.

And how is the site supposed to know if someone is just taking a long time for a move?

make a separate game style with a set of rules that players can choose to play or not that says you have up to 30 seconds to make a move if not you will be disqualified. Not that hard.

I thought the only games without some sort of a timer were the ones vs the computer (and not even all the computers at that). 30 seconds for a move isn't much time at all unless your playing blitz or faster time controls.

sounds to me like you only wanna play fast games (and that is fine if that is what makes you happy)... but the big request of this thread seems like it already exists to me... so... yeah maybe just only play shorter time controls, maybe stick with bullet? It wont do much to help improvement but if your only playing for the fun of playing it seems like bullet is the way to go if more than 30 seconds to move riles you up.

I see what you are saying. I think my title is a little miss leading. I play 10min games. After the first 3 moves you can just let the clock run out. my complaint is that if I am ahead a piece or say I capture queen early, these players will sit there for 7-8 minutes hoping I resign. It would be nice to have a option to where I am not held captive because of these sore losers.

I also think the title is misleading =p. However now that we are on the same page, I offer up reducing the size of the screen you are playing that you are waiting 7-8 minutes for an opponent to move and opening a new tab and play a daily game (something that doesn't have a timer that you can freely walk away from- minesweeper/solitaire or the like is a fair suggestion) this way you are entertained while your opponent is wasting away their time. If they play on it will be at a severe time disadvantage since you will be able to turn and refocus on the match immediately. Perhaps count it up as extra time they are held hostage with their life in your hands instead of you being captive to them, perspective matters.

Never play 60-minute games. I played one before and then realized my mistake meh.png

if you were playing otb and your opponent died half way through the game, would you complain about the length of time it would take for him to lose on time ? well come to think of it i can now sympathise with your grievance.

R.I.P. 60-minute game.
