Don't let it get to you, you will always run into little people, ignore them.

Just started a game with some guy. His first chat message was , Warnning , I kick nige''' a$$e$.

I cleaned that up a little.

What a sick person.  He went on from there.  Trash talk is for basketball isn't it?

He is trying to mess with my thinking I guess. Off went the chat feature. I might even just resign. No need to play jerks.

Anyway. I will send him a trophy allright. You can guess what it will be? Forget the GG stuff.

Good day everyone.

What do I do then? Some people are offended if I post gg. Others are offended if I don't.

you should say gg, its proper chess etiquette. If they get angry, it'd be like in a tournament if you offered your hand and said good game, and they looked at you angrily and said it wasnt a good game and stalked off. No one could blame you for being polite, and they look like rude jerks.

Whoa!  I didn't realize this was so offensive.  I'm always open to chat, as long as your not trying to tudor me as I'm getting waxed.  That can be a bit much.  But I don't usually do the gg thing, especially if I win.  I have said things like: "You're a much better player than I am.  I got lucky."  But what should I say to someone on correspondence that won't resign when they're 10 or more points down?  "Dignity is overrated." I'm sure it's already been said here but when someone is rude they're just exhibiting their lack of class and somewhat their lack of mental capabiities.

winerkleiner

Good point, throw them off their game, and good strat.

Good Post !! i think, When you win then don't say anything , just check out without saying even Good Game. When you loose then it is upto you if you want to say gg, or just check out. But most importantly when you win then don't tease the loosing person , don't even say gg. in short it is good to ''not be an asshole'' that is all.

Rudeness is a perspective : )

Sunny_1977

and tht is your perspective ;) ... but we all know when in ''our perspective'' we are rude, for example when u say ''Good Game'' just to tease a person then in your 'Own Perspective' you know that you are rude, but other person may not sense it, depending upon his perspective. All you should try to do is that in your ''Own Perspective'' don't be rude. Because tht means u wld not be able to dismiss it as ''Perspective'' when someone else is rude to you. Besides if we start dismissing everything as ''Perspective'' then noone was ever nice or rude or good or bad or lovable or hateful to you ,,, none of that. Sometimes we imagine but it cannot be totally dismissed as ''Perspective''.

So you wouldnt say gg to me if you won? Kinda messed up dude, like i didnt even challenge you or anything and that i was beneath your notice.

Where is my good old friend the-aleph????

iyahdub

Neither spoils my enjoyment here nor i find it rude. I assume that, with the flood of new age technology, its too much of a hassle to type gg ( not always as intuitive and practical as one would like).

Tbh  what i find rude is tantrums during a game ( not resigning, making one wait for the win, rude insults after losing, etc). What about that for rude?

Any game ( even losses) are always a good game. Any chess enthusiast knows that ;)

Play another game, and by the time it finishes, you wont remember anymore :)

aalekhine68

Don't take it personally.  Some players don't say "gg" and it doesn't make them rude.  Different nationalities have different cultures.  Most players go find other players to play with right away after a game, win or lose.

Allegretta

Sometimes the opponent leaves the chat (if they even are on it) immediately, win or lose, and one is left typing "gg" to no one but yourself!

 OR

your mobile is so messed up you cannot type!!
