Says friend unavailable for live game

After a couple of live games with a friend this week I keep trying to set up a new 30 minute game buy it always says my friend is unavailable for live games so we have to set up move a day game instead. What are we doing wrong? Any ideas welcome.

You both have to be in the Live interface at the same time. Just both being online is not enough.
Thanks! In terms of the iPad add does that just mean having the app ipen and on screen?

I know when you first launch the app, in Android at least, it used to open a Live session and let you know the Live session would be active for a certain amount of time. I'm not seeing that now, so don't know how that is handled anymore.
