Searching for Spinks

Hello all. I'm looking for the man who used to work the counter at the Atlanta Chess Center, David Spinks. So far I know he's most likely either in Pennsylvania or Georgia, staying with family. It's important that I find him, as several of us in the Georgia chess community would like to talk with him.

johnmusacha

Does he owe you money?

rooperi

uh-oh... that sounds a little ominous for david

corrijean

Have you tried googling him?

gaereagdag

OK. I can't resist some jokes.

When I saw the name Spinks I thought that you were looking for that boxing champion called Spinks Laughing

I assume that concrete boots play no part in this cross-city manhunt? Innocent

MMatthias84

Wow, seriously? Actually, I'm concerned about something I heard and was hoping the good chess folks on here might have some idea. I have tried Googling him, as well as using peoplefinder services. The problem is there are lots of David Spinks-es out there. This one, however, was the guy at the Atlanta Chess Center.

johnmusacha

What did you hear that caused you this concern?

MMatthias84

I can't discuss that openly. It's a health matter. I'm just looking for some help finding Spinks so the chess players here can talk with him. There's way too much speculation here, and not anything like what I was hoping I'd find tryig to solve a chess community matter on a chess community website.

johnmusacha

What makes you think this is a "chess community" matter that needs to be "solved"?

Seriously, pal, your story makes no sense.  What health matter anyway?  Did you somehow learn singlehandedly that this guy is carrying some extremely rare and contagious virus and you only have 24 hours to administer the antidote before he infects the entire world?

Have you even tried looking in the phone book?

corrijean

I read it as concern for a friend/acquaintance.

Hope your friend is ok, MMathias84.

johnmusacha

You know what, CorriJean could be right.  If it is just a concern about a friend, my comments were out of line.  Maybe I'm overly suspicious and/or paranoid about those sort of inquiries into someone's whereabouts.  If that's all it is, then I apologize to Matthias.

Have you (Matthias) tried asking the guys at the Atlanta chess club?  They would know if anyone, probably.  And I don't want to sound facetitious about this (because I'm not) but also you could hire a P.I. if you are really interested.

I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS "SPINKS SEARCH".Either it's a put on or Mr. Spinks was doing alot more then playing chess at that center !!

johnmusacha

Yeah, you see Eddie, that was my first (and still held) thought too.  But then again I respect CorriJean's opinion as well and if she's right about things, then my comments were outta line.

And the whole "health issue" comment cuts both ways, as in, his "health" is gonna drastically decrease when I find him -- but that's not something I can talk about . . .

Jebcc

corrijean is a schoolteacher that knows whats good for you whether you know it or not......she is a know it all disregard her opinions

AndyClifton

Still, it would've made a cool TV pilot. Smile

And I too naturally thought of this toothy fellow:

AlCzervik

Me too. Or Michael

johnmusacha

Well, it's been about three days.  I think it's time for an update on this Spinks situation.  Mathias, what have you found?

MMatthias84

Okay, forget it. It's a real world matter and apparently nobody on here cared to google "Atlanta Chess Center" and noticed it has Closed. That's why I'm having trouble finding David Spinks. He's got a form of cancer. This isn't some manhunt. Quit watching so much television and try paying attention to what's going on in the real world people.

AlCzervik

Sorry about your bud, Matthias, but, that kind of the point. This is a chess site, not the real world.

There are sites where you can pay and they will locate a person.
