Hello everyone,

Not long ago I finally broke through and gotten to 1300's and since then I've been specifying to only match me up against 1300-1600 opponents. Well I've noticed that 90% of the people who start a match with me and are over 1400, almost always have 95%+ win ratings (and I don't mean something like 5 wins 1 loss. More like 29 wins 1 loss, or 40 wins 0 losses).

I know it doesn't neccesserally mean they are cheating, but it is mighty suspicious and I only notice it on 1400+ players.

Really odd

P.S I am talking about online chess

Hi,

I play live chess in the same 1400-1600 interval and noticed only 2 or 3 cheaters during last year. It was almost obvious as they were spending approx. the same amount of time for both easy and decisive moves.

In any case playing live chess instead of online chess decreases the probability to play against cheater, because of necessity of fast decisions. So you may try yourself in live chess, if cheaters are the problem for you.

Best wishes.

It's feasible if they're strong players playing mostly weak opponents. I think it's a little silly to presume somebody is cheating just because they win a lot. Look at the ratings of the people they play. Of course, you might take what I say with a grain of salt, since i appear to have a pretty decent record at online chess here...

Skwerly

definitely a lot of cheating, on every internet site.  can't stop it.
