So... this 'platinum member' can just keep on doing whatever the hell they want on chess.com?

Back in September I played a 15|10 game against this douche which they promptly lost in the opening and abandoned (which is against the rules mind you) on move 10. I sent them a message saying I reported them and they should learn to resign.

They keep spamming me with BS ever since:

Yes, I know I could just block them, but why are they allowed to keep on doing this in the first place? Why are they apparently not sanctioned in any way? They're clearly not muted lol - and I just checked; their account is as active as ever. I can't be the only one they're spamming like this. I'm mildly annoyed at best by their behaviour but I AM concerned about chess.com apparently doing NOTHING about my three reports against them so far. What kind of precedence does this set?

If you're going to send someone a snarky message, don't get butthurt when they message you back... and if they spam you, you can block them to stop the spam... and I don't believe for a second you only sent this user 1 message, so be careful about wishing mutes on people who spam contentious private messages to each other. I'm sure you were just as involved.

Well I added the imgur album to the conversation (fully anonymized the "perp", I didn't want to doxx him) back in. You can judge for yourself.

The first report was for abandoning games. I do that a lot. ONCE per incidence, OF COURSE, duh. I have to HOPE other people do that too so that they CAN get accumulated and action be taken in case of serial abandoners, because the occasional ragequit is not sanctionable, you're right. But I've yet to see ANY evidence that chess.com actually doing something against this rampant issue despite them clearly stating it's against the rules. Which in a way is kind of the entire point of this forum post - in case you didn't get that.

The second report was at least a month later, for spamming, so for an entirely different reason. The third "report" I'm not even sure I sent, actually. If I sent one it was for continued spamming. Otherwise, consider the third report being this forum post.

I don't care if you don't believe I sent only one message, because a) I didn't even say that, what? And b) I'm CLEARLY not the one spamming a stream of nonsense at him. Again, see for yourself.

"Just block them". Yeah, totally did not expect that answer. Great solution. Force 100 people to take individual measures in reaction to one maverick instead of just muting that one guy/gal.

Also why tf are you so damn passive-agressive? You warn me about getting muted without even knowing one bit about the actual facts of the incidence (I only edited the album link back in just now)? Everything alright with you?

Wow, really substantive input once more.

Just report him (to support if he gets on ur nerves so much) and block him

notacoolperson

Why do u need to worry about him. You blocked him

They can probably report you back for spamming their message box. happy.png
Next time, it is better to just report them, no need to notify them of your actions... and yes probably better to just block them.

For one message? Lol and double-lol. You know about the topic of this forum entry, right? And I'd like to think it has an educational effect. I'd like to give people the benefit of the doubt. You see, when I ragequit, I click the little white flag, then I click the X on the browser tab. I'd like to hope other people skip the flag and go straight to the X because they don't know. So I send a short little message to remind them to resign. Maybe it "shocks" them into not abandoning games so often, because now they know it might have consequences. Usually I block them as well. This one I forgot to block. Lo and behold.

And no one seems to quite get it so far; I DO NOT CARE about the individual in question. They're even kinda funny. But I care about people like them being able to turn chess.com's messages, chats and forums in to a toxic cesspit if they don't get sanctioned at all.

Give them a warning. If they do it again, mute them. And tell the reporting person that you did something. Is that so hard to do?

It says right there very clearly when u buy ur platinum membership "u can just keep on doing whatever the hell u want on here. Now  get on out there & stir up the drama like a douche." Only $3.67 per month, cancel anytime.

By his messages, I believe that it is actually some child. As for reporting, yup he can do it, even if it is a single message. Don't get me wrong, even if he does it, I don't think it will go anywhere, especially because of the circumstances.
