"obnoxious and childish..."
That sum up this post exactly!
Stalling and disabling chat to avoid losing?

A loss is a loss. Resign, site there, walk away, turn off your internet, burn your house down, turn off chat. Its still a loss.

I know it is frustrating but they are entitled to there time it is not cheating just like forcing a lost game to try and get the 50 move draw which I alway hated but it is their right.
You may have gained a valuable lesson if you can go in for the kill don't hesitate.

No one needs to know someone stalled, just take the win and drink some tea. Maybe report and block him also.

happened to me once. just turn on premoves. it is a lot easier then waiting 10 min. I just keep it on

I mean, if your as low as 1 second on the clock whereas your opponent somehow has as much as 15 minutes, thats kinda on you for taking too much time on your moves when your opponent isn't.

Fun fact, you can enable premove mid game
Maybe he was afraid the opponent would make there move when he tried to enable them? Although IDK where you enable premoves during the game so maybe I'm wrong.

I also thought about that
But Isn't it better to risk that 5 second than to sit there for 10 minutes?
(And even if they make a move you can still exit it and make a move in one second, depends on your reflection)

Agreed. Although I think fear/anger/stress might have controlled him or got to him.
So, last night I was playing a game in which I am only one move away from mating the opponent, when suddenly, instead of resigning or making the move, the opponent turns of their chat and stalls.
The situation is probably not so uncommon, but the kicker here is that I only have 1.6 seconds left on the clock and the opponent still has like over 15 minutes left. Unfortunately, I don't have the pre-moves enabled in this game.
I could not believe how obnoxious and childish this was, especially given the fact that this person has been playing online chess for over two years.
Sure enough, 10 minutes or so later, they unexpectedly make the move:
After sitting there for over 10 minutes waiting for the super-staller to make their move, I release the left button on the mouse that has been kept pressed over the C2 square during the entirety of the stalling session:
