None of this is new around here. Everyone knows the tragedy that is abandoning games and letting the clock run out. But what is alarming is the frequency of such events. If a super GM blundered and then ransacked the place we'd understand his reaction. Condemn it, but understand. They've put a lot of dedication and time into something and failure brings out the worst emotions in us. But a beginner, a 500 rated beginner who has just started playing the game, it is unimaginable why it'd be so difficult for them to just click a resign button instead of rage quitting. Maybe make sportsmanship a part of the game and teach it to everyone as classy or attractive? Rewarding people for seemingly common sensical activities pays dividends in society. Now the only reason I am getting this emotional over the subject is because I feel their behaviour being disrespectful towards the game and themselves. It demotivates me when instead of analysing and encouraging each other we do such unsightly things. Now as a beginner myself in many things I feel like good sportsmanship is simply not rewarded well or held at high regards around here. Maybe reinforcing such ideas regularly in the community will bring good results.
