alexander grischuk may win in the tiebreaks, considering that he is very good in short game, but there are still two more games.could this be part of the game plan?
or does gelfand believe he could win in tiebreaks?

Almost a sure thing, ChessMarkstheSpot. With only two classical games left, tie-breaks look like the deciding factor. I must have played 20 or 30 games last night, so chessed-up am I, but I wake up for an 18 move draw just when the position got interesting
If he does win the Candidates by playing like this, I hope Anand beats the living tar out of him. Usually I would not cheer for Anand but in this case, even against Gelfand, I hope Anand annihilates either one of these two guys.
My blog entry today shows my total disgust with this whole charade of an event.

Why are you blaming grischuk? He had black this game and he equalized. It was Gelfand who offered a draw. Grischuk fought hard for win twice in the first half of finals, but could not bring it home because of time pressure. Kramnik did worse, kramnik totally playing for a draw as black, grischuk had huge advantage as black against Gelfand in game 2
I've still got chess swirling about in my mind, so I am definitely going to play some today, LordAtos. I'll be playing 10 0 unrated games in live, throughout the day. I hope I see ya there
Puppylover - Because Grischuk didn't have to accept the draw. I blame one as much as the other in this case. It just seems that they have no guts or moxie to play out any position and probably forgot how to play for a win, since there has only been 2 decisive games in the entire classical event. So yes, I blame both of them right now but Grischuk, with White tomorrow, will almost guarantee to offer a draw before move 15.
I don't mean to come across harsh here, but many of us have been looking forward to this event for months ever since it was announced, and when Magnus left, I think this event was doomed from the get go.

...our only hope is from "the norse god" Thor...ooops I meant to say Magnus...
...wait a minute...where is he?
Magnus is sitting on his arse scared to play Grischuk, who took his place in the Candidates. Aronian is sitting on his arse after losing to Grischuk. Kramnik is sitting on his arse after losing to Grischuk. Gelfand is on his way to sitting on his arse after playing Grischuk...he can't win, so he accepts the early draw even though it plays into Grischuk's strengths. Talk about a bad position for Gelfand.
Anand has won blitz world champ, right? That'd be awesome if Anand v Grischuk became an epic blitz-a-thon.
If the world championship match is decided by blitz.. I'm forever refusing to play in any FIDE rated events.
...one can only hope that the next two games provide more lively play...or at least not an early draw...but I would not bet on this happening...
...no wonder this sport is on the fringe...and maybe on the way out...

Hey where I live it's getting fairly popular. I know its picking up steam in India. Chess isn't on the out ;)
There is little one can say about today’s short draw other than the players repeated the English from round two, Gelfand played a more cautious continuation, and just as things were about to heat up… draw. We even had a commentator, GM Elshan Moradiabadi, lined up for the game, and though we were going to dispense his services, he beat us to it, “Look, I made up my decision. I am not going to do any commentary on Chessbase unless the games are played under Sofia rules [meaning no quick draws].” Very unhappy with the last couple of games, he added:“The match is very disappointing. I think this is one reason why chess is losing sponsors. Have you ever seen a sports event that ended precisely when the heat was at its highest?” Of course there was little to add to that, and it is not just the sponsors but the fans who are turned off.
This is from chessbase news and hits the nail on the head. These candidates matches are disgraceful. I wont be following anymore.....

How could Magnus be afraid of Grischuk, who wouldn't even be there if Magnus played?
Magnus withdrew because the short match format is ridiculous and because FIDE twice changed the rules in the middle of the cycle. He looks wise beyond his years right now.
I agree and I dont believe we would be seeing 14 and 8 move draws from Magnus, even when black, let alone white. Grischuk may make it to a match with Anand without winning a single classical game.... I dont know how any chess fan ( even Grischuk fan ) could be proud of this ? Its a farce/joke imo.
I'm having chess dreams again...at least I'm not having waitress nightmares...
I'm up early for Grischuk with the white pieces in game five of the Candidates final. We are less than an hour away from what is sure to be a shocking draw offer. There is a rumour going around, which anticipates Grischuk offering "draw" in one of the Romance languages, perhaps French. Others have commented that the post-mortem will more than likely take place before the game starts.
With all this excitement going on, is there even a need for a cup of coffee to wake up with? Of course not. These are the Candidates matches after all, a month long, state of the art question posed by the top chess players in the world: Is winning a classical game of chess an acceptable result?
You be the judge
In comparison :
Fischer/Spassky 1972 had 11 draws out of 21 games. The average length of the draws was 46 moves with the shortest one being 29 moves and all the rest were 40 moves or more... It appears that they played at least until the first time control in all games but one which in that match was 40 moves in 2.5 hours if memory serves..
We are at move 8! Gelfand appears just as surprised as the rest of us! Looks like it's time to get ready for a delayed draw offer. Gelfand may play a reversed draw offer. I, personally am not only on the edge of my seat, but I'm actually sitting on the floor
Yes. In fact the person commenting at ChessBomb says that Grischuk has a chance to win this game. It's way too early for me to understand such hopeful proclaimations, but hey, one should get in as many comments as possible before the draw
Another blasted early draw!! This time at 18 moves! I am going to the bathroom to get sick now because of this junk chess play. Grischuk has White tomorrow so expect another quick draw and do not be surprised if there are tie-breakers.
