dave_westwood brings up a good question. Is there a reason that the Old Chess Mentor lessons cannot coexist separately from the New Lessons on Chess.com? If this is the case could someone who understands these things please explain why we can't have both? It's such a pity really because like so many other premium members I will not be renewing my diamond membership because Chess Mentor was the reason I purchased the diamond in the first place. I really enjoyed sitting at my desktop, sipping coffee on the weekends and going through the Old Chess Mentor lessons at my leisure.
The Old Lessons are gone and so is my 10 year Diamond membership

" could someone who understands these things please explain why we can't have both"? I'll take a stab in the dark........ The old lessons come from V1.....remember that?...10 yrs ago? V3 is incompatible with their layout. Do you want your children to be reading the same text books you used in the 1960"s.?
Your analogy does not work in this case. We are not talking about school text books that students used in the 1960's and the fact that up until about a month ago the Old Lessons were available in the current version your suggestion that Chess Mentor is not compatible with V3 doesn't hold water I'm afraid.

It is very possible the old lessons relied on some code the site no longer wanted to maintain, or would no longer work after some upcoming updates that would require rewrites of the lessons code. That could be one of the driving reasons why many of the other lessons were migrated in the first place and why the rest were removed.
That would also explain why they just aren't restored to the way they were.
That said, I haven't read any staff statement directly about the why, but other things have been removed in the past for upgrade reasons.

So I'm back to Diamond. My little protest is over. I don't know if all the old lessons are back, but at least some of them are. Okay, I admit it: I'm going CoronaCrazy here and miss my unlimited tactics.

another gift?
Actually no. I had planned to ease my way back in with a monthly membership but then just went for it with a yearly. They have made it more difficult to cancel "autorenew" though. I ended up closing my account for about a day by mistake....

Bring them back! Bring them back! I loved chess mentor. Come on y'all, lets start chanting. Bring them back!
Bring them back bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there some reason the two sets of lessons can not both be accessible on the site?
New and improved is not always better, and even if it is there are often people who are fanatically committed to the original or previous incarnation.
Remember the NEW Coke debacle?
