this is a chess site not a breast site

I log on to chess.com for the different skill levels, be it male or female apponent I love the compitiion win lose or draw. Before I posted a picture I couldn't get but a few words from my apponent. But now I posted a hot chic I cant get them to stop hitting on me. They don't even check the profile, but they get mad when they find out its not what they thought it was. Now i've seen profiles with pictures of animal,cartoon characters,and painting or pics of anything, but i dont assume i'm playing say a duck or a stone. Its cool to make conversation but make conversation with your apponent not the picture because you never no who or what your hitting on.  

You can always block these people or report them if they are too abusive.

they should all do better "due dilligence".  but, you're right.  some of these dopes see a hot chick and get all crazy.  gotta be youngsters.

not just youngsters.   i've come across a few creepsters of all ages (if their profiles were correct).  i actually have politely inquired as to what these guys are after.  communication has then immediately stopped, essentially confirming what they were after. skibaby is right, and totally cool (new york!), and should (like the rest of us) be treated with common decency. 

this isn't match.com people.  last i checked we're all here to play chess.

With all due respect, are we following in the foot steps of McCarthy here?  Yes, there certainly are some jerks on this site -- and many would say that I am one of them.  But that caveat aside, ducks do not play chess.  Women do.  Post a photo of a woman, and it is not unreasonable for someone to assume that this is your photo.  The same cannot be said for someone who posts a photo of a pet rock.

Whether or not someone is after sex, the chance to see the opponent facilitates conversation, which in turn facilitates friendship.  Maybe that is what they are after?  At least some of them?

If you directly accuse someone of being after sex, and he clams up, does this prove that he was?  The same way that in Salem denying being a witch was proof that an accused woman actually was a witch?  Maybe they find the accusation offensive, and realize that an effort not to be abused is not carte blanche to issue abuse.

Maybe we would all do better to judge each other by our own actions, and not by our projections of what their actions might become.  Someone says "Hello" -- wow, that is the same thing somebody else said, and that first one turned out to be a jerk -- by association, this one must be a jerk too.  Great logic.

Lets all think about this for a second. Now what did you think about? Therin lies your answer.

Shawn, I thought you were Little Miss Sunshine. What the hell? Guess it's back to the rocks for me. At least they won't spurn me with their "I'm not actually a rock, you know" double-dealings.

to ask a player why they only play unrated games against women while telling them that they seem like a decent guy and you're just curious, and to have them resign the current game, unfriend you, and recommend that you should never speak to them again is a far cry from the scenario you imagined. this isn't a witchhunt.  i've had nothing but cordial experiences playing with almost everyone on this site, and not a single weird experience with another woman.

It's one thing to get an invite to "play with me" with an attached obnoxious speedo picture that you can just ignore.  it's another thing to have a pleasant conversation slowly make you feel more and more uncomfortable to the point where you just want the game to be over.  most guys will just come right out and say they're just being friendly if you say you're uncomfortable in any way. it's that small percentage who make these forum discussions volatile.

What I find ridiculous is that these guys are hitting on girls they will probably never meet, or talk too outside this website! That is just pathetic and sad,if these guys would bother to hit on girls face to face instead of on chess.com they might find better luck in nabbing a girlfriend. I guess it's easier on their ego if they get rejected online instead of up close and personal. C'mon guys... take a chance and put yourself out there in front of girls in your hometown,not here on chess.com! Besides it makes you look like a desperate loser when you hit on girls here,and most girls I know find desperate losers to be a major turn off. If your too shy to hit on women face to face,spare the rest of us who are here to play chess, and do it on a DATING WEBSITE.

OK CJ, maybe we do agree then.  The initial description was nowhere as descriptive, so I did not realize that this is what had happened.

Regardless, I hafta agree if you post a picture of some hot chick as your avatar, people will either assume it is you or that you are at least female.  I'm not quite sure why you would do it otherwise; although, I guess to each his/her own.

And Stan you've probably never had a problem because "stan" is in your player name.  On the other hand, "skibaby" is more than a little suggestive of a female player.  And I do realize Shawn can be a female name, and perhaps Shawn is a girl, and I doubt you can go anywhere on the internet where that won't be something of a similar issue.
