Timeouts

I have a game where my opponent has run out of time due to closing their account. It is not a tournament game or anything important so I would like the facility to be able to just cancel such a game rather than claiming the win. In this particular game I am not winning and would feel a bit of a fraud gaining a win I do not deserve.

A similar situation arises when  a "win" by time out is shown as your "best  win."Had the game been completed it could just as easily have resulted in a "worst loss"designation by the current system. If you look at tournament comment you can note  another quite anomalous situation where current system has shown time outs as the "biggest upset " scored in the round-this also can be embarassing to both parties and is surely a statistical  nonsense in essence .

I agree to an extent, but how would chess.com remedy this and prevent people from leaving a game to time-out in order to stop their 'worst loss' statistic from getting any worse??!!

By online chess-settings tick out the line 'Auto claim by win on time' that's all i can say

Time outs are part of this type of  chess.  For those who don't care that much about the game or their rating, they will happen alot.  I can understand not wanting to take a win when you are behind and the other player times out, but isn't that similar to when you are hopelessly behind and the other player blunders away the game to you?  I don't see much difference.  Take your time out wins and be proud of them.  You "showed up" when you promised to in order to finish the game, the other player did not live up to their commitment to complete the game!
