TOO STRONG PLAYERS FOR THEIR RATING, TOUGH GAMES

You'd have to be over 1800 or 1900 to get out of the section of players with the wildest rating swings. At 1900, your playing pretty steady chess at that level. Even at 1800, I've seen games in which the level of play was worse than a 1300 USCF. 

Not sure how they did it, I only saw one game like that, but since someone did managed to crawl up to 1800 with inferior play, it does leave one to question the validity of players 1800  or under. (Under 1200 and the blunders are so frequent it doesn't matter).

At 1900+ though, your really starting to find players that are pretty solid and have a good grasp of all the different stages of the game. Over 2000 and your looking at players that have a certain degree advanced knowledge of the game and use that knowledge with consistency.

im sure here is a lot of cheaters still on this website with 100k new players a day of course there is. its just annoying. the ranked system is basically completly unreliable und means nothing a lot of times. kinda trash and makes me want to play less

I've yet to face a cheater on here. Do they exist? Sure, people cheat, with this large a population it's unavoidable someone will try it. But people mostly just make stuff up too because they don't realize how badly they actually played and it ends up hyping the supposed cheater count to higher than what it actually is.

I'm new here, just started playing (though I already knew the basics), made it to about 1400 after about 50 daily games, but I got mashed in one game where opponent got 98% accuracy over 41 moves. Normally I'm anything from 25% to 90%. Is 98% suspicious, or just a good game?

Yes.... Igor talented in chess. But y to waste time . Just give them a smile and they would resign after being scared away from crooked yellow teeth hehe

It could be both . Accuracy isn't very descriptive in itself . It depends a lot on the type of game being played. I have got 99.8 many times and 100 as well. If say your game involved positions where the moves to be made were almost obvious ...and critical thinking was needed in much fewer periods of the game .... both of you are bound to have high accuracies ...Coming back ...it could be just a good game for him or he could be cheating. If you feel he's cheating just report him.

I wouldn't put too much stock into one game's accuracy rating. You can check the game to see if they made any moves that were abnormally good beyond reason, but if a game is clear enough a lot of the best moves aren't that mind boggling. In the game you mention your opponent still made small mistakes and even blundered a fork. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks both (catmaster and anon dragon), for the advice - I forgot you'd be able to see the game itself! This is an incredible site for learning the game, and suddenly it seems to get harder with players around 1400. I feel I've been lucky with my opponents up to now.
