I vote after reading the discussion to see what the consensus is between players far better than me.
I do to. But I read them through out the time that the opposing team is voteing.

best to listen to the stronger players and try to understand why they are suggesting certain moves.

I wait to vote until there are no more than 24 hours on the clock. That generally gives everyone enough time to make suggestions.
