Yup it's over. I am curious to know the strategy or seconds of Anand and Carlsen.

Who do you think will be seconds ?

the edge likely belongs to Vishy if he just plays some creative chess with nothing to fear.

I doubt that, the difference has been big between Carlsen and Anand the last years (5-0 in wins to Carlsen and around 100 points rating difference at the moment). It is great that Anand gets another chance though, he really deserves it.

Of course Carlsen will pull out his ultimate weapon of playing long game and make Vishy tire. It would be interesting to see how Vishy retaliate that.

TheRocketKing

anand has absolutely nothing lose, he should just go for it and play really aggresive!

My guess on seconds

Anand : Vladimir Kraminik

Carlsen : Garry Kasparov of course.

I don't think Carlsen has any interest in having Kasparov as second (and I wonder if Kramnik really would want to be second in a title match at this stage of his career). Maybe Hammer (and Fressinet?) again for Carlsen, while Anand might change things a bit. Leko is maybe not the right guy for him, he could use someone like Vachier-Lagrave or Giri better.

@fablehaft

May b you r right. That was my assumption. I dnt know much abt seconds. But it's sure that kasporov is in favor of Carlsen all the time or rather against Anand. I took Kramnick's name cause he is good friend of Anand and convinced Anand for candidates tourney.

I guess till now Carlsen has not disclosed his seconds name for last WCC or was it shared ?

@FirebrandX

It's in November though official date and venue details are yet to share.

Interesting fact is none of the games played so far in candidates tourney have crossed 100 moves except Anand and Sergey's last game.

So Anand is getting back in energetic form for longer games with Carlsen. That may be worry point for Carlsen as he has to look for some other approach to catch Anand in net.

Yes, Kasparov certainly likes Carlsen better than Anand, but I don't know why, maybe because he worked with him a bit even though Carlsen quit the cooperation rather quickly. Kramnik is also an "older" player and likes Anand better than Carlsen. Maybe Kasparov just never really liked any player he competed against himself, except Tal, but that was in the end of the latter's career.

Kramnik has talked before about not seeing himself playing chess into his 40s, and next year he will be 40. With family life and maybe fading chess interest I wonder if he will want to invest a lot of time in a title match he won't be playing himself. Young guys like Giri and Vachier-Lagrave have beaten Carlsen and have many ideas, could be good picks.

Very true. Nowdays young age for chess is 15-25 yrs. Those days have passed when oldies use to be on board lol.

Enormous available data and study material has helped kids lots.

Maybe the World Championship will be held in Bendigo.

in_prasad

Is it official ? or hint by FIDE.

ninadkulkarni39

I think may be an Indian e.g Harikrishna or Ganguly might be a good option for Anand's Seconds

Anand seconds: Kramnik, Caruana, Giri.

Magnus seconds: Hammer, Nielsen, Nepomniatchi, MVL.

Just my guess at the moment.
