I'm not sure about that because there is a list for Unrated games but this could be part of your wins and loses.

 No they don't.

But they count for total win/loss! So, yes! They count!

I've played a number of greeter games and some of them have been really enjoyable. While I prefer a rated game most of the times, Unrated games are quite fun once in a while too.

This might not be related to  topic but: when I go to the options page where we select it, it says I played 27 Unrated Games. But the number of unrated games that appear on my Online Chess page is just 12.. Tally error..or do Greeter games not appear in the Online Page?

Suggestion for Erik:

for greeter games that the opponent fails to complete 5 moves:  delete those from archive.

Anyway, it is much better play Tournaments games! Less rude!  More Quality games! Competition. More good conversations!

Erik - I've been a Greeter for many months but I haven't had a game for a long time - I'm assuming it's because I'm now in a tournament that means I'm playing more than the max number of games I've set.

I'm still willing to be a greeter but I'm getting no greeter games.  Maybe the setting could allow the indicated number of greeter ganes over & above any other limits we may set?  Hope that makes sense - not sure I understand it :-)

OK Erik, I'm in and I won't even comment on the Greeters versus Games issue. I run my band websites and there is always something going wrong. The best laid plans of mice and men...

I've been a greeter for quite a while.  it is not as time consuming as one might think.  give it a try.

Erik/Staff,

I have some feedback.  I started receiving my greeter games again yesterday and now have my maximum number of games.  I hope others are again receiving their greeter games.  This is a great chess website, and I believe these greeter games could be a very positive welcome and encouragement to the new players on the site.    A little common courtesy and help goes a long way.

From the feedback posted here, it sounds like some greeters are not even saying hello, or chatting with the new player.  May I suggest that greeters be given some rules/guidelines on how to be a greeter and what is expected of them.

In my greeter games, (I have Welcomed so far: 515) I welcome the player, provide basic information about the website, and get to know the individual.  I research and answer their questions and pass them to tech support when required.  I also have patience with them even if they post "make a move, it's your turn!" because, I then know they didn't read all the text in the text box.  If a player has not made a move in 24 hrs, I post a message to the new player informing them it is their turn; I also tell them how to make a move and to be sure to click on Submit move button to finalize their move.   If the new player seems to be having trouble I point them to the Site features  and video tour, and encourage them to explore the navigation bar at the top of the screen.  I ask in my greeter games if they are experienced chess players and would rather play live chess.  If so, I point them to live chess and tell them to add me to their friends list so if they have a questions later on they can ask me.

Thanks for the opportunity to assist in making this great website even better.

paul211 click on edit my profile then top right hand group, clickMy Online Chess settings then at the bottom of the page you'll see Max # of Games: Welcome games played so far, and just enter in the box how many games that you'ld like to play, I hope that you get the gist!

Hang on, greeter games do NOT count in your wins and losses. They simply stick another 1 onto Unrated Games: ...

I'm not sure how the greeter thing works either. I joined in February and don't remember the option of having a welcoming game. The other day I read this post and decided to help out, and became a greeter. I got two games immediately, one the player hasn't even made a move and went right into Live Chess to play, and the other writes:  "I know how to play." (I responded, "great, lemme know if you have any questions.)  If new Chess.com members are automatically given greeter games, maybe that should be changed so that they choose to play a greeter game and pick among available greeters or something.

For the "Max # of Games" setting, is that the max number of welcome games, or the max number of total online games?

Thanks, Alan

Avatar of thegab03

"Max # of games" is for how many ongoing welcome games that you'ld like to host, becareful for if you put for example 5, you'll find yourself starting virtualy straight away 5 welcome games & when one game ends, another starts straight away!
