That was a list Erik posted 5 years ago. I notice Bill Wall isn't on it. Erik seems to have gotten it from some sort of data dump.
Maybe the dump was only active accounts at the time it was generated?

This was my second account I believe I think the other one was my real name I had been a member of WCN for years and when they closed I think chess.com fulfilled our memberships for them. I'm old , so I could be wrong {usually am}.I think I used my name for a while and then took this one. Oct 2008

Maybe. I'm sure many, if not most, of the members cited haven't been here in years, so they were inactive but with open accounts. I know Mr. Wall closed his account and opened a different one. The problem is that Erik was responding to this very question: Who were the first members.
A couple members have spotted accounts created earler than jay and erik. I can't quite remember but I'm fairly sure there were multiple accounts with join dates in March and April 2007. I tried looking for the topics but couldn't find them anymore and @rishit_india was closed for cheating so I couldn't ask him. So as far as we know, the earlest member was @jay and the earliest non-staff was @Joshua

Any members with earlier dates were inherited from one of the other chess sites that closed and where chess.com merged the members into the system.
What, why did no one- GET THE USERNAME CHESS?
That was mentioned on the same page you asked:
Names get changed and sometimes a desirable name can become free to use. The current owner of @chess wasn't a name change of an older account but overall, the situation is the same.
erik is the oldest member, since he created chess.com.
A common inaccurate assumption.
It's not "inaccurate."
You're as annoying and insane as ever.
lol

Probably this guy: https://www.chess.com/member/fobshady
He joined May 9th.
Interesting find. Looks like he and @jay may be (or have been) friends or at least knew each other online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19cE7bnh4DI
