Seriously though. What’s with the question where you have only 5 minutes. I play 3|0 games. Of course I would go for the win.

As a 3|0 player, I don’t get why you would offer a draw when you have 5 minutes left.

Clearly you haven’t played a game where you’ve been pushing for hours upon hours upon hours only to encounter stubborn resistance, burning time to no avail but never having “that finishing blow”, looking at your clock and wondering where the hell did your time go??

If you haven’t sat there for four hours per game then you wouldn’t get it

You have five minutes left. It does not say how much time your opponent has, but you can assume they have around 20 at least.

If that’s the case, you’re playing too slow a timer happy.png

Playing fast is a good way to lose.

personal experiences:

In Chicago I dropped a pawn against a 2k UScF. I was 1680. Time control was 90+30. I spent the next fifty moves grinding down to a rook two pawn vs rook pawn endgame which was drawn. He had five minutes, I had fifty. I hung my pawn because I didn’t pay attention and lost the game. @rychessmaster1 saw my game and can confirm I was drawing.

In North Carolina I was 1681 against a 1400. He used all of his time (2 hr 5 sec delay) and I used thirty minutes.

i lost the game.

Of course I can give more examples if you wish.

Nimzowitsch

So just play faster time controls so you both think fast

its just not easy, i also played fast and threw 2 games cause i wasnt even awake at all. i would constantly since the 3rd game stand up from the board, get more water, slap myself, get more water and then come back to the board repeatedly to stay up. i somehow beat a 1700 in the nationals during game 3, blundered mate in a winning position, and then simply was too tired and didnt feel like playing basically blundering queens and resigning
