Who is the Most Famous Person on Chess.com? The Last to Post!

What about blackfirestorm666 who has 160,000 profile views and a 128,000 points. I don't consider friends or groups as a sign of popularity because anyone can randomly send a friend request or just join any group

Hikaru??Naka??Nikamara??

chessdex

I knew someone who got into 700 groups in one day

Guys! Lets get this straight, I have been WAY, WAY more active than macer, I have more everything (prof views, trophies, points, friends, groups) I have posted twice as much content as macer, I have been in the forums months b4 macer, I am generally more awesome, I have WAY more threads than macer, I have AMAZING posts, and I am just overall better.

I am the most known guy EVERYWHERE. macer is only really known for his dumb posts in the threads the last couple of months. You'll find in on chess.com/tv, live chess, every group in existence, and everywhere else known to man.

So I have no clue why everyone is talking about that guy, lol.

Yes George, you do post a lot, but none of the stuff you post is memorable. I suspect that if u asked random people on the forums, what is the first thing that comes to mind when I mention GeorgeBlackChess, most of them would go, "Who's GeorgeBlackChess?" But if u asked the same question about, say, Daeth, most people who've been around long enough (and even a few people who haven't) will immediately say, "Invinted a new opining."

Also, the fact that u keep changing your profile pic doesn't help either. People like Batgirl, AndyClifton and (if I may say so) myself are instantly recognizable by their profile pics.

Yeah, I don't find anything memorable about GeorgeBlack, all I know is that he is popular, but nothing stands out

You're pretty well known yourself, chessdex.

I don't know, I don't have many profile views and I am relatively new here, only getting into it in August

I'm relatively new here, but until today I never heard of GeorgeBlack. Macer, MzJavert, and Varelse 1 are the names I recognize the most.

Who's MzJavert? That name only sounds vaguely familiar.

I agree wih you goldendog, but you're fighting a lost battle. Popularity doesn't go hand in hand with quality, take for instance Harry Potter, as pure literature, the book quality is poor. Don't take me wrong, I read all the books and I quite enjoyed them, but JK Rowling is no Shakespeare nor Marlowe.

Another good example is 50 Shades of Grey, compare it with the Rosy Crucifixion by Henry Miller. 50 shades pales in comparison to it, but still it's been sold worldwide. The same goes for TV programmes, films, etc.

Same thing with Macer and Batgirl.

I consider the forums mostly lost to juvenile imbecility and a strained mediocrity. Like global warming, I don't see it coming back to a relatively reliable place for humor and intelligent nudging of the dumber comments.

As for trolling, we don't have anything worth reading.

Once we did, though.

We had Haywood, who though a one-trick obese pony, at least took care to craft his stuff with a solid germ of humor.

Also there was snakesbelly. Miles more creative than anyone around now. Handy with the photoshop. Too bad he got caught cheating.

All those guys' content is gone, unfortunately. Sometimes that policy that removes content from cheaters and banned users doesn't serve the community well.

One guy I liked a lot, though others whose opinion I value think less of him, was http://www.chess.com/members/view/Beast719.

At least his stuff is around to pick at.

Goldendog:

For once I have to agree. There are so many trolls that don't get the attention they deserve, because as soon as they post something amazing they get banned or muted. Two recent examples are Omargalanti and letsgohome. What? Never heard of them? Well, that exactly proves my point.

However, the decline in the general quality of trolling is not the fault of the trolls. It is due to the fact that the forums are being moderated much more closesly and harshly than they used to. Take cheater_1 for instance - I daresay that if he were around today instead of 5 years ago, he would have been muted or banned in a matter of days.

goldendog

cheater_1 is an extreme and unique case as he was about cheating, which since his time has become a gehtto-ized subject for the forums.

Otherwise, if one wishes to troll brilliantly in off-topic while staying within the lines of site policy, they'll have no problems staying alive here.

And you wonder why the quality of trolling has gone down? Looks like you just answered your own question!

chessdex

Who is(was) the most famous troll?

goldendog

It's noi like you can't produce quality while obeying site rules. In off-topic, one has some leeway.

Most famous troll (historically): Daeth

Greatest troll of all time: Lenny Bongcloud. Daeth is essentially just a less successful version of Lenny.

Why is everyone sad that trolls are becoming less and less?! That means that the staff is doing their job better now!

chessdex

So how famous are they compared to the rest of chess.com?

913Glorax12

Daeth: Legendary
