Wow, guys. People are really spending their time virtue signaling -- on chess.com -- by making alt accounts and staging conversations between the two of them in public forums.

There are people out there who are travelling to all 195 countries on Earth, or working to achieve enlightenment. And this is how you spend the gift of life. Wonderful.

@CaptainStormy, I COULDN’T agree with you more! 😐

Agreed.

Overall, this community is pretty good. Obviously any community online seems to have its share of online silliness, trolling etc. If you are constantly around toxic people online, then maybe it has something to do with what you post, how you say things and what chess.com friends you often interact with.

If you generally ignore the chess.com trolls and just report the tos infractions you come across, then the chess.com community is fairly friendly; you just need to find the right people to surround yourself with...but this is true for any community, not just chess.com.

The simple solution is to disable the website itself.

No don’t start over just stop altogether I think

easier solution might be for you to leave this place you abhor.  who knows, toxicity may leave here with you.

Most are quite OK but some have mental illness.

Also it’s pointless reporting anyone using toxic language, cos it takes months for it to reach staff members, if it reaches them at all ! 🤷‍♂️…..chances are that it will be just ignored , and you’ll never get any sort of reply back from them .
Avatar of explodingmacaroni

I think the toxic people accidentally fell in radioactive crap

Avatar of Woollensock2
Pegusu I know a couple of mods that are helpful in the way that you described. Unfortunately they can’t mute anybody, and in many cases of members who use toxic language, they need to be muted .
Avatar of Woollensock2
Oh ! ……so censorship is not needed , member’s can post any sort toxic language that they wish to . HiramHolliday’s comment purely linked to the fact that I’ve blocked him , and it’s his childish way of harassing me……….such a pitiful individual .

Why?

Because they are all Britney Spears fans:

With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under
With a taste of a poison paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do
Don't you know that you're toxic?

@Mr-Mudd, what are some of ur ideas on how to handle all this?

All I need is some names and addresses.  After that I'll start knocking on some doors and handling business.

1100 S Ocean Blvd, Palm Beach, FL 33480

Don't even bother knocking.  Raids at this address are great!  The August 8th one was music to my ears!

I agree. Once censorship starts its hard to stop

This is a privately-owned website. Censorship is not (and cannot be) an issue... that concept only applies on PUBLIC media.

Chess.com has every right (both legal and moral) to decide for themselves what sort of behavior is appropriate, and what sort should be banned. It's THEIR website.

"Freedom of speech" is a principle that applies only in public venues.
