Why did I randomly lose 1000+ elo points on Puzzles?

if someone can explain.
People were leeching the "easy" rating to get super-high scores.
I moved from "easy" to "medium" puzzle level difficulty about a month ago. My scores took a small 100-point hit then, but I've been fighting my way back up.
This 300 point drop correction is nothing.

As far as I'm aware the easy/medium/etc. settings thing is quite recent (I only noticed it being a thing in the last year or so, at least); along with the "coach hints"...?

Either way, it only took me ~2 years to hit 2400 but then another ~5 years to hit 3500 -- at the very least that "correction" curve seems a bit steep (I spent 99% of my time on this site on just the puzzles)

I fell 1k. I usually make a mistake in a puzzle (which is my fault) but everyone messes up, I think if you stop gaining points after a while that's where you at, the massive hick from the recent mounth was probably millions get a free membership (like me) for a month and doing hundreds of puzzles. I would consider myself in the 2400-2600 range but becuase of the drop it will take me one year (I am on the basic level now) to get there prob, especially if I get a puzzle or two wrong every 10-12
Just bamboozled and wondering if someone can explain. Was thinking maybe it's due to recent inactivity but the 'Highest Rating' stat is also affected
