WOW.. I REALLY didn't expect this thread to take off the way it did.

Then again, I'm sort of used to this sort of thing by now. The threads that I really put my work into and consider to be examples of my highest quality content barely receive any attention at all, while the ones that I create in 3 minutes on a whim for reason become popular. I've heard that the same sort of thing tends to happen to professional writers.

Anthony Burgess hated A Clockwork Orange, claiming he wrote it in only three weeks, yet everybody loved it. Art is one of the best ways to feel frustrated and misunderstood.

He did not hate A Clockwork Orange, he hated that people misinterpreted it as a glorification of violence, that's why he wished he didn't write it.

Ohhhhhhhh, gotcha.

You might want to check your buddy's thread again. I got my name off his list in post #1.  I suggest everyone else do the same thing.

ANOK1

i always wondered about mary whitehouse hating lewdness yet in her crusade v vice having to watch loads of porn ,,,it reminds me of rjc so offended by forums he asks mods to lock em yet spends loads of time in said forums lol ,,, keep up the crusade rjc

RonaldJosephCote

I'd rather have one of my own threads locked by my willingness to violate the T.O.S. then to have a known trouble-maker spread lies about a dozen members with the Ooooold bait & switch technique that he employed. How about you ANOK?  Would it be OK if one of us spread a few lies about you?  Put some false words in your mouth, or created posts that you never said ?

Does being a control freak mean having little sense of humor and taking everything very seriously?

They will close this unfortunantly. I'm with macer too on this. They closed mine for appearntly acussing people of cheating hiliarouis.

It wasn't "apparently" - it's pretty clear on page 6 of that thread.

And yes, I locked the thread disparaging Indians in general - if you don't understand how that is racist even though skin colour was not mentioned, you'll be surprised by how many of your comments will be actioned by the moderators.

I didn't lock the thread mentioned in the OP, but I can see how a moderator may have extrapolated the direction is was going in and chose to act before it got there.

RonaldJosephCote

Wow!Surprised  Fantasychesspro wrote about disparaging Native Americans??  Well. He's coming off my friends list. Thanks David.Wink    Maybe that's what he meant when he threw this at me--"Young but arrogant you are Ronald. When you grow up you will begin to understand life as how we see it now".  post 61.

RonaldJosephCote

   Well someone didn't get the're Thorazine today!Surprised

I accused one guy of cheating not people as you said. I already explained the reasons why you thought so and I don't need to know how from one game he might not have cheated. You know what it's waste of time arguing with a staff like you which will reject everything I say. I will leave it up to the the support team responsible for detecting cheaters and see what they come out with. And btw that was my forum. When ever someone insults me in my own forum I don't care who he is even if he's a staff member I would say whatever I want to him. And sorry I won't remove my comments from that thread accusing him of cheating. Because my engine clearly sees he played the top 3 moves. If you are gonna defend him then do. But I will report him no matter what you tell me.

I listen to all reasonable arguments, and a lot of unreasonable ones too - if someone insults you in your thread, you are welcome to block them and report them, but do not retaliate against them in a way that violates our Terms of Service - people do not have carte blanche in the threads they create, they must still adhere to Chess.com's Terms of Service.

If you think someone is cheating, please report them - that is absolutely the correct course of action. Do NOT declare them a cheater in the public forums, though, because an accusation is NOT proof, and you might well be mistaken. That's why I directed you to the Cheating Discussion club, to help you understand the flaw in your logic.

Apologies for the implication that the thread disparaging Indians was yours: I was responding to your mention of it, and I can see how other people may have assumed that it was your thread, when it was not.

Does being a control freak means having the urge to answer rhetorical questions? Sarcastic ones?

LadyMisil

Ask a psychologist? I might as well have my head examined ...

I didn't realise that thread even had anything to do with chess.

Yeah, the attitude of mods has gotten out of hand. They didn't give a reason as to why the thread was locked.

Was it against the site's TOS? Did it discuss politics? Did it discuss cheating? Did it promote racism? Nooooo.

It was a very plain and simple topic that asked how long people think while solving TT problems. And they locked the thread stating no reason whatsoever. I demand an explanation from the mod who locked that thread.

Did it discuss...um...er...uh...size? Yesssssssssssssssss...?
