YouTube Tryouts!

I made this three years ago for fun, I could do it everyday if I'm getting paid. :)

No one can be Danny but I can be fairly entertaining. Cool

Hi, here is a typical live blitz video from me made today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb2d56A1Ihg
I enjoy making these and would love to do these on a regular basis!

edit 25.6:
Here is a new one where I whine a little in bullet, it's funny being emotional like that ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx3DhCZPnmc

edit 26.6:
Here is a tournament I played on chess.com yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDBV0h5c4T8

Also there are 100's of vids on chessvideos.tv

Not bad Ingvar, definitely higher level thinking than I'm capable of in a blitz game (let alone a lightning game).  I like to think I can play a nice positional game when I have time but with 5-minutes of less on the clock I'm mostly trying to focus on primitive tricks, winning material, gaining space, not blundering & rudamentary calculation of endgames.

In a 10 min game I could probably get away with more talking (and better quality talking Laughing).  I'm away from home right now so no access to my web recording stuff but I could possibly make another example video.

It appears I'm outclassed by all the titled players in this thread but I could give a low-end Expert's opinion on the games I play & perhaps do a post-mortem with the computer to see various mistakes that were made.

I think there may be some advantage having a slightly lower-rated broadcaster as weaker players can perhaps relate to me better & my thought process will be slower & not overwhelming.  I'm streching but hey, I'm trying to make a sale here. Smile

Killer thread.  Thanks everyone.  Cool

Here's my submission for the competition! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-CkjFojcHY&feature=youtu.be

I have some experience in recording videos (from preparing them for a student not so long ago) and I'm passionate about chess - I really want to be a chess.com video presenter. Thanks for considering my submission and I hope you enjoy my video! Sorry for being a bit nervous in the first few seconds: I just get really excited at the start of any of my games!

I'd like to try to make a video, but how do I do it?

ChezBoy wrote: How do you even make a chess video on youtube?

1. You'll need a digital video camera, to capture a physical board.

Or a microphone and something that will do video screen captures, to capture a board on chess.com.  If you do the screen capture, I recommend changing the mouse pointer, if possible, to a larger one so your viewers can follow the lesson better.  For screenshots, I've tried a program called Snagit (the older versions are free, though the files are kindof big).  But CamStudio looks good too.

2. You'll need a Youtube account.  After you login, you'll see a button in the top-right to upload you video file.

Wow, chess.com's going to have to make some tough decisions between the 5 (!) titled candidates.

Not to mention all the other submissions.  I'd like to see who they pick after all their submissions are in.

Hi, my name is Ryan Phillips.  I'm currently rated 1973, but I aspire to increase my rating above 2000 in the near future.  Approximately four months ago, I started my own chess YouTube channel, where I analyzed all of my long games, played predominantly at the local chess club in Las Vegas, NV, but also at other tournaments, including the 2013 National Open and the 2013 Reno Larry Evans Memorial.  My videos have received rave reviews from patrons of my local chess club.  I would enjoy making videos of my blitz games while they are being played as well.  I have a knack for providing lucid thoughts of my own decisions as they are occurring during the game.  I believe my videos can be of tremendous help to many players who are looking to improve their game.  In addition to my YouTube channel, I will be providing live commentary of the Mind Sports International tournament held in Las Vegas over 4th of July weekend.  I've attached a link to my YouTube channel below, I thank you for your time in reviewing my videos.

I have made a few hundred YouTube vidoes, and many of me playing live, usually standard. I have a fun narrative style, and try to make each video instructive, even at the expense of consuming my time and thus getting in severe time pressure.

Here is a favorite video of mine that shows my personality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKq4udiwdJU&list=PLDghkp2J0_krRP7DcaP-3u3P2r4K3UuHi

My YouTube playlist has more live commentary while I play, here is one with some blitz and 15 0 standard:

I'm glad I found this thread in time! I recorded my games at 1 in the morning! :)

P.S. Did I mention I'd love the opportunity?

Squarology (apparently not his real name!) has the best videos yet. This dude needs to be given some serious consideration.

I don't think that's quite what they're looking for - most players on chess.com can already set up a chess board Laughing

Here you go, one of my videos on YouTube!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNgYgUp7tPs

I would like to make new videos. From my existing videos, one can notice that I only included winning games. I think that I should include losses and draws too, in the future.

Concerning my future videos, I have the idea to record "thinking out loud" games. During a game, a player has a conversation with himself or herself while making decisions. I would like to reveal what my conversation sounds like during a five minute blitz game. Be in my head! That is more or less the whole idea :)

I wanted to make a video in the specified format so that chess.com would get a better impression of what I can bring to the table.  Enjoy!
