YouTube Tryouts!

Well, fellas, it looks like Zibbit and Aww-rats have run away with this one.

I tried recording some new ones this morning but I was like a zombie missing moves left and right. I've got a lot work to do before I can really become good at blitzing and speaking at the same time.

What if you tried 30|0 or 15|10 games for your videos?  You would have time to make your moves and speak.

It's interesting that I play better when I talk and comment actually :) I have been practicing multitasking in years anyway ;-)

My own guess is chess.com is in no hurry to pick a winner(s). This contest was opened last week and I just received an email about it I think 2 days ago. You have a lot of instructional talent and will pick up more votes. In fact, I encourage people to still enter. Personally, I don't play a great blitz game myself. I look at this opportunity as a way to instruct and the bonus is to give the non-titled players a shot at playing us. Believe me, they love it. Every time I am in Live Chess, I get invited to chats and to have a game. I keep challenges closed...

I also vote for (Bill) Aww-Rats hands down. My second chioce is Dan Heisman.

Thanks for your support, but this vote for me shouldn't count, you already voted for me the other day. I don't think Dan Heisman is entered...

An idea. What about a double commented game? Both players record their comments on either side. Then, both videos are uploaded. You sort of get the full story in this way. Cheers!

I've tried those a couple times when I was on chesscube.  They work out okay; people seem to like the format.  I recall kingscrusher did a few of these with GeniusProphet a few years ago.

I remember seeing a couple videos - I don't remember whose - where the presenter is sitting there in person and talking to one of the players in the game he is discussing.  (Asking questions such as, 'now here you did not exchange for his knight on f3.  How come?')  These were not master games (as ChessBase likes to do in post-mortem for big events), I realized, just some strong club players.  I thought it was rather interesting to hear non-professionals describe their chess motivations in words.

I recommend Zibbit videos!!

Fairnight

I vote to Aww-rats and sqarology.

With no offense meant, perhaps a non-titled player is best because to players at my level and arround that, we honestly have no clue why grandmasters make certain moves and why ourn inaccuracies are just that.  For us, it's not the best posible move in a ituation that matters, only a good move.  I feel I learn more when looking at a game from a player rated 400 or 500 points above me than a player rated 1400 to 1500 points above me.

One more for NM aww-rats.

I would try but I don't want to have to censor it or anything (I blame my little brother, spiders, and ocasionally my cat when he desides to jump into my lap with his claws extended) and if you are wondering, I can censor myself in type, not so much in speach when speaking to a mic, and not only that but my play is not very good

I was hoping someone would suggest this! I would enjoy this very much :)

My idea was for each player to record their comment after their opponents move and then just lay both recordings over the video of the game. I can easily do the editing so it would be one video, kind of like the amatuer mind vs the master's.

Would you like to give it a try  FM testviking?

Hey, Chasm, I am pretty sure I could do that. As could the others who posted videos.

If you give specific examples then we could work to incorporate such commentary in our videos. I felt like I did a decent job at explaining things in my videos but of course there's always huge room for improvement (again, that goes for all of us).

I'd like a game with you squarology, for the purpose of perspective and the difference in thought process... i think it'd be funny and educational!

Your tryout video is an excellent video.  I think that one thing at my level is that I see two or three or ten moves that look to be okay and sometimes it's being able to distinguish which move is actually the better one that would be an improvement, or maybe just being able to know what to focus on at certain points in the game, like how I'm sometimes clueless in the midgame and just play a move that looks okay instead of knowing what to do and orient my play towards that.

Hello!What is this topic about?

chasm1995

read from the beginning and you'll find out.

All of the submissions were fun and entertaining. Squarology, Zibbit, and aww-rats stood out to me the most. I also thought the Rookfellas were very entertaining but could use some more explanation and overall polish to their videos. It would be cool to get a situation where more than one new contributor was chosen. If I only had one vote I would go with Squarology.
