I use a combination of Windows defender on 10, and "MalwareBytes". Not because I'm smart but that's what my computer tech guy said. wink.png

Can I take this moment also to mock Apple users because try as I might I cannot think of a single reason why anyone would want to buy an Apple device other than some kind of social signalling and I bet you cannot think of a valid reason either.  I asked my kids and they said, 'because they work'.  Wow.

While I'm currently running Winblows 7, I believe my cash stream to Microsoft will be nil going forward. Can I get a Hallelujah? And yes, you have my permission to dump on Apple if you'd like...

Don't be mistaken, Windows has improved a lot. Now it sends lots of telemetry to Microsoft and forces potentially troublesome updates on you!

What really annoys me is there are still many people worshipping Jobs (you know, the guy who thought he could treat his cancer with alternative medicine) as a messiah and visionaire when Apple just took something that already existed and made it pretty and expensive.

I won't deny he did well with the marketing.

My take on Apple: Pricey, fashion statement hardware (although good quality)...master marketers...They work hard at obsoleting the software so you'll have to buy the overpriced hardware every two years. Oh yeah, and you must do things the Apple way, or no way at all.

At least with Windows you could mod your stuff, build gaming machines with outrageous hardware.  I do have a laptop that has Windows 10 and as far as I can tell all that has happened is that Microsoft now has root?  Users of Linux distros like Ubuntu were used to Canonical having root anyway so perhaps its not so different.  I switched to Linux ages ago and could never really justify moving back.  I cannot tell you how many iphones my kids have dropped and the screen has broken despite all my preaching about cases and screen protectors.

I don't know if Microsoft has root in Win10, but I've heard if you read the EULA carefully, you'll conclude that it allows Microsoft to do pretty much anything they want to do.
