hello?
2 bishops vs knight checkmate
i have never seriously studied this super rare ending but i would imagine its not AS hard as ideal computer defense makes it seem in real life situation unless on low time.
The thing is, even a single bishop can sometimes completely paralyze a knight, and once you know you need to capture the knight first before this becomes trivial, you can imagine a schema of cornering the opponents king while forcing their knight to be worse and worse placed until it is cornered or fatally pinned.
here is a rarely discussed rule when it comes to opponent's knights and your king's which could save you much calculating grief. If the king is diagonally with one square in between or two squares horizontally/vertically from a knight ,you can rest easy that it cant check you. This can make this ending easier i would imagine but you still need to watch from your your bishops being attacked in a way that would allow them to trade one of them for a draw.
I don’t know anybody (including super GMs) who claims that he can convincingly win this endgame. I learned K+B+N vs K many years ago to win a bet against my FM friend (I checkmated him in less then 1 minute) but trying to learn K+2 B vs K+N i would consider 99.99% just a waste of time.
I have recently tried to learn the 2 bishops vs knight checkmate which is definitely harder than queen vs rook, this checkmate is annoying because you have to separate the knight from the king while avoiding forks, does anyone know how to do it and could you share how to do it.
