Well, that's very interesting and fairly good looking. No time too study it deeply now but it appears that wPh5 is undesirable. In the final position you can take it off and white still quickly gains a decisive advantage. Why is that important? The answer is that from the author's diagram white can insert ".h6 Bxh6" at some point in the solution and simply sacrifice the pawn for free. That is a dual. So you can't have the pawn on h5 for security reasons. You must also be sure it doesn't open the door to a dual choice.

Thanks for the wise reply Master. Always educational & constructive. happy.png

Actually this was made in haste & haze. Initially I had a black pawn on h6, which was removed later since white had to have 17 pieces to come up with that 1. So the pawn h5 did not look out of context. However the function of that pawn could potentially stop the Rh7 on move 11, because the Rook must first take the p-h5 & only then play h7. That gives white the upper hand in a certain fashion.

Now, I have scrutinized this a bit further & your suggestion seems to be the right 1, as white should manage to do fine without the pawn on h5, of course the game will go to 70-moves-region if white wants to win the game. I was afraid that black could construct a fortress when the Rh7 was not delayed by the h5-pawn, but it is obviously not the case here. Here is a sample in 70 moves, it is in puzzle-form just in case:

A possible scenario

In the case of any dubious wins you might also consider to place the pawn somewhere else - a square where it cannot make a forcing move but at the same helps to assure the white win in the end. I haven't analyzed the whole thing sufficiently to come to a definitive conclusion so treat my "impressions" with care!
