Has this type of checkmate ever happened in a master+ game ?

Avatar of HorsesGalore

not in the book of checkmate patterns by Renaud & Kahn.

did this position arise from your fertile imagination or from an actual game ?

Avatar of The_Ghostess_Lola

Horsey, you mean this pattern doesn't do anything 4u ?....I happen to luv it !....only 'cuz I've never seen it.

Avatar of The_Ghostess_Lola

Okay. I wanna see this one used somewhere in a master blitz game or elsewhere.

Someone....help ?

Checkmate pattens with Kings in on it don't really count, do they ?

Avatar of The_Ghostess_Lola

I feel it belongs in the (32) checkmate patterns by Wikipedia. I mean it's kinda weird....doncha think ?

Avatar of HorsesGalore

yes, The_Ghostess_Lola, your Queen flies well -- very lithely along the diagonal, checking and stopping the opposing King from venturing forward  and  the Queen's buddies are set up in such a way that the enemy King can not go forward.    It is checkmate.

you love the power of your Queen to swoop forward over such long distances delivering the telling blow !   do you wish to be like her ?  :>)

I like queens....especially My Queen Catherine de Medici. Indubitably so....Smile....

a very powerful lady indeed !!

Lola, you are in your prime and should continue to flourish mightily.

Your first position is commonly referred to as the mate-in-1-you-can-fool-people-into-thinking-is-a-mate-in-4-by-turning-the-board-around-and-not-showing-coordinates mate.

I wouldn't do that to you.

Putting White at the top and not showing coordinates is a common trick in certain endgame puzzles. A good thing to avoid, if you're not trying to be tricky.

Avatar of The_Ghostess_Lola

w/ many promizez my luv....if I tricked you ?....you'd like it that I did.

In the first position, if you assume the board is turned the usual way with White at the bottom, can you find the mate in 4 for White?

Avatar of pie314271

Can you find mate in 1 if the queen is moved to b7?

Avatar of The_Ghostess_Lola

I don't even wanna go there.
