FIDE masters are somewhat better at solving problems than untitled players but not a lot. Most of the best problem solvers in the world are untitled for problem solving is a skill all by its own. Some problem solvers travel around the world to visit solving tournaments and train for hours per day in their discipline. Just like the GM-circus or the tennis circus.

I was just about to post on realising that but.. I was late by 30 min realising after your post. I did not check your post before that.
Took me about 2 minutes to find it. First looked for a mating net on Black's king. Couldn't find one. Then I looked for an escape via stalemate. That bishop gave a clue. If White could just find a way to pin his own pieces ... Then it was just a matter of looking at the most forcing lines.
Really nice puzzle.
(The crazy part is that Hikaru would likely solve this in ten seconds or less.)
