same

rychessmaster1

like you think you are making progress and suddenly the engine throws the rook on the entire other side of the board and flexes the fact that there isn't a single fork

B1ZMARK2

runner up for annoying endgames - Q vs K - its so easy to mess up and get forked

You have to do QvN in the trainer too. It can be tedious but its not THAT bad.

I don't hate it with a passion like you do because in real games, the Queen side typically wins easily due to in-optimal defense. Against an engine, I agree though Q vs R is much tougher than B + N checkmate.

I know a few key ideas, patterns and Phildor's position for Q vs R, but it still isn't easy. Unlike the B + N checkmate, there isn't a real maneuver you can implement and it is more about taking away Rook squares and occasionally finding a silent Queen move to do it.

Q vs R against an engine is really tough for sure.

How much time have you wasted on this

I did a thing where I streamed (to myself pretty much) doing all endgames as fast as possible. you don't know how many times I failed Q vs N in 1 min

Fair point, engines defend better than humans

I'm never getting QvR, but B+N I have already memorized pretty much most of the maneuvers and can do it from any position

Challenge: beat me K + B + N vs K + P with 1 min on clock

hmmmm
