Merry Christmas, it seems especially fitting to reach 2500 on the 25th of December. Interestingly enough, 12/25, if you read it as 1225, is 35^2, and 2500 is also a perfect square.
Hope that this holiday season brings you rest and refreshment in the midst of what you're going through; I know words aren't sufficient, but I just want to say I'm thinking of you, and wishing you well -- I can only imagine what you're going through right now. My best wishes to you and congratulations for your accomplishment!
Anecdotally, "2500 doesn't seem any kind of accomplishment" but it seems that the players I know who are 1500ish (including me) tend to be around 2500 in puzzles (I do puzzles on my other account.) So, I know there's not an exact correspondence in any sense between puzzle rating and game rating, but take that for what you will....
Well it took forever but I finally surpassed that next barrier in my puzzle rating. Even still, 2500 doesn't seem any kind of accomplishment. I think maybe I'm stuck in a state of pessimism after my most recent tilt. Still trying to get the courage back to play again.
On a more positive note, I received a couple of books for Christmas today. One of which I believe I've seen recommended here many times. The Complete Book of Chess Strategy by Jeremy Silman and The Tao of Chess by Peter Kurzdorfer. I'm looking forward to what I may absorb from these books.
