Tactics are definitely important in chess and probably one of the fastest ways to improve at chess with less time investment, but you shouldn’t be thinking of how to gain rating as fast as possible. That sounds like playing for cheap tricks and less about what’s optimal.
Yeah, definitely work on tactics if under 1000 rating, but it’s also important to start studying some key endgames at this level too. As for the opening, you can usually get by on opening principles instead:

Here’s probably the most important chess endgame to know well. Not necessarily the easiest (that’s probably queen checkmate), but this is definitely the most foundational I think.
