The two replies you got is true in general for other internet action games. But for chess Noob refer to the legendary Casparov game that were played on a Damp ferry in Mississippi. Not On Our Boat, was shouted after Whiliam XI won the first game after spotting the mate trap set by Casparov. In chess terms the mening of Noob is therefore more specific "i recognize you are a good plater but this time I was fortunate to acchive victory". In many cultures its common for the winner to say GG Noob after the end of the game to honor the opponent. Sometimes Nub or Nab is used for short. For example: "GG Nub" and after the players will shake hands.
